Delicious.. hilarious...I love it..

This is definitely not your ordinary film. The film has the spirit of Japanese Style shooting from the 60's, it should've been black and white, it would've been amazing. Long takes, no panning, not too many close ups, but I love it, love it. It is quirky and different. It is a genre of its own, comedy/erotic/Art/new wave. I love characters in this film. Some people might say it is slow, but not for me.

The director had a few roles which I thought were hilarious. Good acting and excellent directing. No script, no actors, no budget, just real people. The director is super talented. He is writer/actor/director/musician and a physician. He also wrote and performed the rap song in the film which I thought it was hilarious. Can't wait to see his next feature.

weird film, artistic and twisted... love it

To me this film is just different, doesn't fit any genre. I mean I don't even know what's going on in the film, heck as far as I'm concerned that's not even important... the Russian dude is walking around all over DC not knowing where is he or what's next... the Idea of the film is that living in the USA is not as easy as people think, and this is not the land of milk and honey. you could end up homeless very easy in the USA. Of course I'm not going to tell you the ending of the film but I like it.

It's a must.. Neo-noir film. Unique.

The Russian Cowboy is a unique film, it reminds me with Jim Jarmusch style in Filmmaking. I like the fact that the film matches your heart beat meaning you don't feel the rush, you are relaxed when you watch the film. It has those long takes but they are not boring. It's a neo-noir kind of film, cult and underground. It is also character driven and you will never expect the ending in this film. My friend and I were watching the film and she said that you can watch this film from the end to the beginning and it would still be interesting. There is something about it that I can't put my finger on. It's funny. I think one day this film is going to be cult classic. Or should I say a new genre kind of film. I learned that none of the actors ever acted before and the filmmaker is a respected physician and this was his first feature film. Watch out for this director.

WOW!

Hilarious. And the soundtrack is out of this world. We are talking about a musical/political/drama/comedy film. The film starts with an original music video performed by the director who happens to be the actor, the set designer, the wardrobe designer, and check this out, he takes 6 different roles in this film. It is a film inside a film and about a film. I've watched thousands of movies but this cult classic is very special. I mean the original video clips in this film can be hits. Also let me mention the Mariachi band. Wow! You wanna hear a top notch Mariachi, well this is the film. This is art at its best.

There's always next time...dislike...

There was a glimpse of hope for this film during the first 5-7 minutes. However that was where the laughter stopped. It seemed that the director tried to get too many laughs out of the same "joke", I'm sorry, but we all know why the chicken crossed the road. It was 100 minutes long, but could have easily been 20 minutes if you leave all the useless fluff on the cutting room floor. There is no rush at all from this film and it would match your heartbeat...if you were dead. The ending, though not predictable, seemed like a last attempt to be artfully clever, fail. The dry characters let you leave with no attachment to any at all, in fact, most were the same. As for the filming, the shots were uniform, no cuts to keep even your eyes entertained, well except for the pan to the naked hookers which seem to serve no other purpose than to try to be "edgy" by showing breasts. The dialogue was not deep enough to be as long as it was, very repetitive. If you love unneeded and overused mariachi bands, then this movie is for you! Funny once, not funny 8 times. I have read that this movie was done mostly without a script, which makes sense to me now. I wish the director good luck in the future, don't give up!
