Best episode so far -- very, very real
4 September 2010 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

"Bully" was so real you can taste the grit. It was already beyond humbling when Louie is threatened by a high school delinquent, but then his date confesses that watching Louie get schooled by the punk was a turn off despite the fact that she agreed in principle that he did the right thing by avoiding a confrontation. What a shame considering she and Louie appeared to be hitting it off.

It gets juicier when Louie follows the punk home so he can have a chat with the little monster's parents. When the dad starts to coerce an apology out of his son by slapping it out of him, Louie interjects with a plea to stop hitting the kid and by suggesting that the kid is violent because he learned that at home. Louie gets thrown out of the house by the mom, very upset by Louie's rebuke. But then the dad steps outside to have a talk with Louie. Surprisingly, instead of an expected angry confrontation, the dad has a down to earth conversation with Louie confessing how the violence started with his father and so on. Well done! About that part at the beginning with Louie recounting the first talk about sex with his father -- hysterical! Reminds you that this is a comedy.
