Hollywood blogger Nikki Finke satirized by Funny or Die -- Video

2 December 2013 7:00 AM, PST | EW - Inside Movies | See recent EW.com - Inside Movies news »

Nikki Finke has long been Hollywood’s greatest enigma: a mysterious blogger who, via her Deadline Hollywood website, breaks insider news and spews vitriolic opinions about the town’s power players, all from the comfort of her secret Los Angeles home. (Finke doesn’t do lunches and few people have seen what she looks like today. The one photo that floats around the Internet is at least 20 years old.) But in the past month she and her boss, Jay Penske, who bought Deadline in 2009 and broadened the site from a one-woman operation into a trade publication, ended their business relationship »

Michelle Pfeiffer Steps Out Dressed as Steven Tyler, Literally!

11 September 2013 1:00 PM, PDT | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

Is Michelle Pfeiffer taking her Halloween costume out for a spin? If so, she's going to win whatever costume contest she enters with this very convincing Steven Tyler getup. Not only is The Family star wearing the screaming singer's signature skinny suit (say that five times fast!), but she's even rocking one of his favorite colors—deep purple—in his favorite fabric—velvet.  It's almost like the former Idol judge filled in for the actresses stylist last minute! Of course if this Roberto Cavalli suit isn't an intentional impression, the People Like Us actress has some explaining to do... Yes, she looks regal in this shade of plum, but that fabric also looks like it »

Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci‘s production company K/O Paper Products have inked a three-year overall deal with CBS TV Studios. The agreement to develop TV projects for the studio ends K/O’s partnership with its previous home base 20th Century Fox TV, where it has resided since 2010 in a pod deal. Among the current projects for Kurtzman and Orci is 20th TV’s Sleepy Hollow, which they wrote and Fox acquired — it will premiere in the fall with Len Wiseman directing the pilot and executive producing. (K/O’s first major projects, Locke & Key and Exit Strategy, also went to Fox and got to the pilot stage.) Kurtzman and Orci previously co-penned Fox’s Fringe with Jj Abrams, a series that ended its five-year run last season. DVD Review: 'People Like Us'

5 March 2013 1:39 AM, PST | CineVue | See recent CineVue news »

★★☆☆☆ The debut directorial effort from Alex Kurtzman, one half of the Hollywood scriptwriting powerhouse behind J. J. Abrams' recent Star Trek reboot and many other high-profile genre works (his co-scribe, Roberto Orci, is also credited as one of the authors here), 2012's People Like Us claims to be 'inspired by true events'. Unfortunately, it all feels like it's been gleaned via 'Scriptwriting 101', and rarely does anything about the characters and their worlds resonant in a realistic and truthful way. Chris Pine is Sam, a corporate hotshot and self-proclaimed 'facilitator', whose life comes crashing down around him when a business deal goes horribly awry.

Olivia Wilde Scolds Justin Bieber on Twitter: "Put Your [Bleeping] Shirt On"

4 March 2013 4:49 AM, PST | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

Olivia Wilde needed to get something off her chest when it came to Justin Bieber's ubiquitous bare chest.  Jason Sudeikis' fiancée threw some shade at the "Boyfriend" crooner—who's still apparently miffed over his "worst birthday" ever—for shamelessly doffing his shirt and parading his bare pecs for all of England, and the world, to see. The 28-year-old People Like Us actress took to Twitter to offer Bieber a clear piece of her mind, and she didn't mince any words. "Bieber, put your f--king shirt on. (unless you lost all your shirts in a fire in which case my condolences and please purchase a new shirt)," she tweeted Friday. The »

Exclusive: Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill on Sinister, Avoiding Sequel Pitfalls and More

19 February 2013 9:45 AM, PST | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

When Sinister was released in October 2012, we had the pleasure of chatting with co-writer C. Robert Cargill and co-writer/director Scott Derrickson about their gut-punch thriller. With the film's home video release this week, we thought it the perfect time to catch up with the duo.

Derrickson and Cargill (read our previous interview with them here) spoke more about the mythology they created for Sinister as well as what's been the most surprising aspect of their collaboration since they began writing the project together not all that long ago. We also heard from the pair about a potential Sinister sequel and what sort of pitfalls they want to avoid when creating a follow-up to what was by far one of the more intense horror flicks to grace the big screen in 2012.

Be warned, though; the following interview with Derrickson and Cargill does contain some spoilers so if you haven't seen Sinister yet, »

A Sinister Sequel on the Horizon?

1 February 2013 11:17 AM, PST | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

The flick Sinister (review here) had the DC staff divided. Some liked it and some hated it, but either way it did great box office so a sequel could always be looming. In fact the first chatter has begun. Read on for the latest on the continuing adventures of Mr. Boogie.

SciFiNow caught up with director Scott Derrickson and co-writer C. Robert Cargill, who had this to say of the potential sequel...

“I certainly want to write the script and be involved with it as the producer – I would possibly direct the next one, we’ll see,” says Derrickson. “But I don’t see myself just handing the franchise over to just anybody and letting it go. If it goes on – then maybe – but I want to see it start its process on the right foot at least, and always have some say and have some involvement in it.”

HBO Orders Jay & Mark Duplass Comedy Pilot ‘Togetherness’

HBO has ordered a half-hour comedy pilot entitled “Togetherness,” to be written and directed by Jay and Mark Duplass. The concept is two couples living together under one roof and struggling to keep their relationships alive while pursuing their individual dreams. Sounds like the Duplass brothers are sticking to what works with more reality-based relationship humor. This will be the first small-screen experiment for the duo, who have specialized in low-budget feature comedies, typically centering on men-children in existential crisis, like “Cyrus” and “Jeff, Who Lives At Home.” Neither Jay nor Mark has any plans to act in the new pilot, though both have historically liked to appear on screen from time to time. Though Mark is the one who has the more rounded out acting CV, appearing last year in "Zero Dark Thirty," "Safety Not Guaranteed," "People Like Us" and "Darling Companion." HBO may be...
