Johanna ter Steege,
Charlotte (Gainsbourg) is being raised without a mother. She is only 13 but ready to be an adult. She meets an older boy and begins a relationship while teaching a young friend about life and learning the ropes herself.
It all starts with a guy subscribing himself into a dating site. This requires him to upload a film, describing him. No matter what, he has to upload it. Against his will, he starts recording and telling his miserable sexual life talking about all the exes he's been with. This movie could have some great comedic spirit but it is lousy and miserable as the character himself.
I can't understand how a production company could give away some money for that piece of screenplay that I would use as toilet paper. Most unlikely, unrealistic and sad for the viewer, I could not imagine anyone being identified with this type of character. He is so shallow and dislikable as he appears to be.
Now to the direction. Just not good enough. In my opinion it went through some hands of some very inexperienced people who have no clue about the proper rules of storytelling. I know that rules are meant to be broken. But you must know them in order to break them. It's like a bridge. You cannot cross the bridge if there isn't. And that's the main problem with this movie. Very incoherent scenes of the character's life put together in no order at all. Returning sometimes to some past stories told already. The worst part was to follow who was who and above all who the hell is the main character as he switches from one past event to another one. So basically we get lost, as we are unable to identify the main character physically, as there is no resemblance at all with all the other ones. The makers of this movie must be mentally disordered in some way. The editing sucks as much as the whole movie does. I don't want to keep talking about it as I am getting more and more irritated thinking about it.
The actors are plainly unbelievable and cheesy.
I couldn't even dare watching it till the end. I had to cut loose after 45 minutes, so disturbing it was. I felt like watching a David Lynch for people with relational problems or as zee Germans say: David Lynch for the homeless. Just 0.
