Curiosity Jumps the Shark and Sharks the Jump
20 October 2010 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

First, in the Country, Curious George returns with the Man with the Yellow Hat before Curious George goes to greet Mrs. Renkins, the Watch Pigs and Tracy the Hen and her six little Chickies, when Curious George discovers the Renkins loud, brassy, screeching, invasive, annoying granddaughter Allie, hiding inside of the chicken bin, and frightening Curious George.

Now, this is where the series really "Jumps the Shark" in a big way. Before this, the voices of the children and animals remain tolerable, but whoever does this Allie person has no talent except for grating upon the ears and nerves in major fashion. (Turn down the volume very low for this one.)

So, it's some business about her chasing after Jumpy Squirrel, who, naturally, scurries from her into his tree, and then she climbs his tree and gets stuck upon a branch and makes more untenable loud, screeching screams into the hollow trunk.

But, for some reason, Curious George decides to try to rescue the unruly child, and so he grabs a ladder too small, a rope too short and a raft too awkward because she's too heavy to disembark the branch these ways, so he decides to suspend a rope from from the branch for her to climb down.

Well, even the Man with the Yellow Hat proves himself clueless to her screeching because he returns from the General Store with set of Walkie Talkies to present one to her and the other to Curious George.

So, must we now have to hear that screeching voice amplified all night in Curious George's bedroom after Curious "George Meets Allie-Whoops!?"

Next, in the City, Aunt Margaret visits the Doorman and Hundley the Doorman's Dachshund, before Baby Celeste and her mother exit through the lobby. But when Baby Celeste drops her squeaky toy clown in lobby, Curious George notices that Hundley the Doorman's Dachshund carries it onto the streets to return to Baby Celeste, and so Curious George follows Hundley the Doorman's Dachshund through the City to play a game of Tag.

Now, as her mother carries Baby Celeste onto a bus, Gnocchi, Chef Pisghetti's pet Cat, intercepts the squeaky toy clown from Hundley the Doorman's Dachshund, and carries it into the window of the basement of Chef Pisghetti's Restaurant, where Chef Pisghetti sings as he takes pride in maintaining a clean basement. (Do not raise that volume level one bit after that last segment if you know what's good for your ears.)

Well, Hundley the Doorman's Dachshund enters the basement through the Restaurant, and Curious George follows him inside, as Gnocchi plays Tag with that noisy, squeaky toy clown, Hundley and Curious George.

But when Chef Pisghetti locks his basement door and leaves the Restaurant to purchase garlic, Curious George is unable to open the door, and so Hundley, Gnocchi and he are trapped inside with that squeaky toy clown even though Gnocchi is able to scale the wall to carry that squeaky toy clown back out onto the sidewalk (which can be a good thing for the moment, at least).

Then, Curious George tries to lift Hundley the Doorman's Dachshund to try to escape through that window, but Hundley the Doorman's Dachshund cannot scale the wall and falls onto the floor, so Curious George constructs steps from crates, but they do not reach the window, causing Hundley to fall back onto the cement floor.

And when Gnocchi returns, dropping toy clown, and causing chase around basement to create a large mess, Curious George notices a poster with a winding road, so he constructs planks, but when Chef Pisghetti returns to complain about the mess, Gnocchi, Hundley and Curious George must leave from the basement window, when Curious George notices Baby Celeste and mother's return on bus.

So, will Curious George and Hundley be able to catch Baby Celeste on time to return her squeaky toy clown during "Hundley's Great Escape?"
