Curiosity Lowers the Spaghetti and Raises the Lasagne
27 August 2010 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

First, in the City, Steve the City Boy has time to play with Curious George because Steve does not have to watch Charkie the black Cocker Spaniel for a while.

Well, Steve and Curious George visit the restaurant kitchen of Chef Pisghetti and Netti, who create what they hope to become the longest strand of spaghetti ever seen, at 30-feet in length.

Now, Chef Pisghetti and Netti expect a visit from Ginny the World Record Book reporter, to certify that Chef Pisghetti and Netti now hold the record for producing the largest strand of spaghetti in history.

So, this news excites both Curious George and Steve, who runs to his apartment to gather a stack of books for Ginny the World Record Book reporter to autograph, while Chef Pisghetti and Netti appoint Curious George to guard the restaurant from Gnocchi, Chef Pisghetti's pet Cat, whose turn it is this time around to mess up the place.

Well, what do you think could go wrong, as Curious George attempts to prevent Gnocchi, Chef Pisghetti's pet Cat, from returning inside while Chef Pisghetti and Netti file papers at Town Hall? Yes, that is correct. Gnocchi, Chef Pisghetti's pet Cat, sneaks back inside to string the 30-foot strand of spaghetti all across the restaurant seating area, knocking down lamps, chairs and tables, while trying to escape.

Then Chef Pisghetti telephones Steve back at the restaurant to ask him to measure the height of the neighboring building, but Steve has not yet returned from collecting his books, so the two-foot-tall Curious George takes the call and attempts to rise to the challenge of measuring the 32-foot-high neighboring building.

So, will Curious George manage to measure the height of the neighboring building, while trying to contain Gnocchi, Chef Pisghetti's pet Cat, before Steve returns, before Chef Pisghetti and Netti return, or before Ginny the World Record Book Reporter arrives to discover how well Curious "George Measures Up?"

Next, also in the City, a very hot and sunny summer day causes power outages and blackouts everywhere except for the Museum of Science, and this is because it receives its energy through solar panels.

Well, Professor Wiseman plans to celebrate the birthday of Doctor Levitt, a solar energy expert, who has helped to design the Museum of Science's solar panels and exhibits, so Professor Wiseman asks the Man with the Yellow Hat to bake her a pan of birthday lasagna.

But, before the power goes out again, the Man with the Yellow Hat sends Professor Wiseman a note via Curious George, whom she transports back to Building 7 in her solar-powered automobile, surprising The Doorman and Hundley the Doorman's Dachshund because the solar vehicle has no engine sounds.

Anyway, the Man with the Yellow Hat receives the message that guests will gather at the Museum of Science by 5:00 PM, to arrive by then, but once the Man with the Yellow Hat completes birthday lasagna preparation, the power again goes off, and so Curious George designs a solar oven to warm the lasagna at least until the energy is restored, which doesn't happen across the City.

So, Chef Pisghetti and Netti arrive at the Museum of Science, on the birthday dinner guest list, and they tell Professor Wiseman that they were not able to bake at their restaurant all day, so how is it that the Museum of Science is the only building in the City to have electricity?

And will the Man with the Yellow Hat be able to present to Professor Wiseman Doctor Levitt's birthday lasagna on time, as Curious George continues to learn "Something New Under the Sun?"
