Story driven, contemplative samurai anime drama
22 January 2015 | by (Australia) – See all my reviews

'House of Five Leaves' is a elegant anime drama that centers around a cowardly samurai for hire named Masa who gets involved with a group of thieves who kidnap for ransom from wealthy, but unscrupulous nobles.

Though light on action, the series is worth watching for memorable cast and the character development of leads Masa and Yaichi (the Five Leaves' leader who's storied past adds intrigue to the plot).

Also of note is the a-typical anime character design, beautiful animation and the beautiful music, which provides a zen-like atmosphere.

The show is only twelve episodes long, so you should check it out on Crunchyroll, Hulu, or even buy the DVD from Siren Visual if you live in Australia.
