Better than Survivor
wbbcwilliams24 March 2024
If you like Survivor, you will LOVE Million Dollar Island. We found reruns of this program, made in Australia, on the Discovery Channel.

Similar to Survivor, contestants are sequestered into different camps on an Island and have the opportunity to win $1M.

Million Dollar Island has far less soap opera like drama than Survivor where contestants moan and groan about their feelings, wasting the viewers time. Million Dollar Island contestants cope with survival on an island where no food nor shelter is provided. The challenges on the show are similar to those on Survivor, but more edgy and difficult.

Was ok. Until the end

Warning: Spoilers
So this show is a B rated Survivor show. It's ok. Ant Middleton is fine.

The editors don't show a lot of the contestants so you don't get involved too much with their personalities which I found annoying as you don't get to care about them so much. I found even at the end I didn't care about any of them winning or loosing. Apart from the ones who spoke oddly, you'll know I am talking about when you watch the show.

A lot of it is based on luck. Which sure ok. But they play for this MILLION dollars right up into the end. And then that's based Entirely on luck. I found that annoying. It should be called PART of a million dollar island.

Disappointing

Warning: Spoilers
Looks, feels, sounds and plays like a much cheaper version of Survivor - extremely disappointed in how it works. The challenges are not based on skill or luck but randomly chosen (which can involve anything) - In one episode some of the contestants chose who goes first! It was advertised as 'One hundred strangers have to survive on a desert island for two months to have a chance at winning one million dollars in prize money. By playing games, the islanders compete for wristbands worth ten thousand dollars each'. Even this is incorrect - in fact there are twins on the island, certainly not strangers - don't waste your time, watch the real survivor instead.
