Citadel Rescue

This was a great end to an arc that filled me with a lot of nostalgia and intrigue. While the second part of the arc did not do much to advance the plot, it gave us some great character moments that blended into this episode beautifully. Tarkin is such a great character and even though he only had limited time in this arc, I found that he just continued to impress me with his slick sensibilities. The action was incredible, and I am glad that show has balls enough to actually not hold back with the heavy losses that the heroes keep suffering. It felt like some of the classic expanded universe material in terms of its scope, and with a mention of the Old Republic, I couldn't help but think that this final part of the season has felt a lot like those great stories of that time.

Warning: Spoilers
Learning to read Aurebesh really paid off for this episode, it was the first time I noticed the name of Plo Koon's Republic Gunship and I love it, love it enough to boost this episode from the 8 I had given the other two in this story arc to a nine. The death of the Jedi Master was very sad, underated death scene and thus it does warrent the nine rating I have bestowed upon it.

Honor above victory

This episode continues the plot of rescuing Jedi Master Piell and Captain Tarkin who have important information for the war effort.

This continues to be extremely entertaining, beautifully animated with some great deeper themes.

The subplot with Anakin admiring and befriending Tarkin (future Imperial leader) is great. Obi Wan is very wary of this and of Anakin's support of Tarkin's aim to do whatever it takes to win and declares honor is more important than victory. Really nice support of the overall story of their characters.

There is darkness and sadness as well in this episode along with loads of really excellent battle action which is particularly thrilling.

The villains are strong and the dialogue is excellent. There is emotion as well as excitement. Interesting themes of how the Jedi lead warfare adds depth to the storytelling and the episode is very thoughtful and intelligent as well as extremely action packed.

Super enjoyable episode.

My rating: 9.5/10.
