The Week in Spandex - The Dark Knight Rises, The Amazing Spider-Man, The Avengers, Ghost Rider, Chronicle and more

18 December 2011 11:55 PM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Presenting our weekly round-up of all the biggest news stories from the world of movie superheroes…

Anticipation for The Dark Knight Rises went into overdrive this past week with the build up to the release of the six-minute IMAX prologue and new trailer for Christopher Nolan’s Batman swansong, both of which generated huge amounts of excitement off the back of poor quality bootlegs that were quick to spring up online (and even quicker to disappear, thanks to Warner Bros.’ legal team). As I’m sure you know, the prologue is being shown before select IMAX screenings of Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, while the trailer accompanies Sherlock Holmes 2 (well, in North America, at least). We’ll refrain from going into too much detail here to avoid any spoilers for those who haven’t had the chance to catch them, save to say that the trailer features all of the »

New Posters for Chronicle, Cosmopolis and Rise Of The Guardians

18 December 2011 7:10 PM, PST | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

With less than two weeks left in 2011, it’s time to set our sights on movies that will be opening in 2012. Since the coming year is releasing a ton of big budget movies that will dominate media coverage, we thought we’d take a moment to highlight some of the lesser known fare that will be gracing the screens over the  next twelve months. We’ve got some new posters that will be a first look at these projects for some of you and a gentle reminder for others. First up is the superhero “found footage” thriller Chronicle by director Josh Trank (The Kill Point). Trank’s cinematic directorial debut features three teenagers who become imbued with superpowers and how those abilities darken their lives. Next, from David Cronenberg (A Dangerous Method) comes Cosmopolis, starring Robert Pattinson (Twilight). The adaptation of the Don DeLillo’s novel by the same name »

New Chronicle Poster Has a Bad Attitude

17 December 2011 6:56 AM, PST | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

Here’s a new poster for Max Landis and Josh Trank’s “Chronicle”, their “teenage kids get superpowers and shit goes really, really wrong” movie. The only objection I have with the film is shooting it in that getting-so-old-i’m-starting-to-hate-Oren-Peli-with-a-passion Found Footage gimmick. I honestly don’t know how they’re going to keep it going with that when the teenagers start flying around the sky beating the crap out of each other. It just seems so limiting in terms of storytelling, and when they start trying to get around it, it’s going to scream “contrive”. Here’s the trailer for “Chronicle” in case you missed it, and poster below. Starring Michael B. Jordan, Michael Kelly, Dane DeHaan, Ashley Hinshaw, Alex Russell, Anna Wood, Joe Vaz, Matthew Dylan Roberts, and Luke Tyler. Chroniclin’ February 3, 2012. Superhero Faux Documentary 'Chronicle' Gets Obscene Poster

16 December 2011 11:39 PM, PST | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

You might remember a few months back that the trailer for 'Chronicle,' a faux documentary concerning young people and superpowers, caused a bit of a stir. It's a unique spin on a couple of popular genres these days. Thanks to Dread Central, you can check out a brand-new poster for the film. If it were to make its way into theaters, it would no doubt cause a few heads to turn. A stone-faced Andrew Detmer (Dane DeHaan) adjusts well to his new-found powers. He literally flips the bird. Even the most high flying are unable to ignore it. Here's the synopsis of the film:  "Three high school students make an incredible discovery, leading to their developing uncanny powers beyond their understanding. As they learn to control their abilities and use them to their advantage, their lives start to spin out of control, and their darker sides begin to take over. »

New Poster for Sci-Fi ‘Chronicle’

16 December 2011 9:00 AM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

A new poster for science fiction film Chronicle has been released this week, and if you haven’t already seen the trailer for this film, I recommend that you carry on reading.

Set in found footage format, three high school friends (Dane DeHaan, Alex Russell and Michael B. Jordan) gain superpowers after making an incredible discovery. It’s not long until they find their lives spinning out of control though, as they begin to embrace their darker sides.

Directed by Josh Trank, the trailer, which can be seen below, will undoubtedly get you looking forward to this exciting take on the found footage style filming. With the mass of other films currently experimenting with the camera-footage/documentary style genre, Chronicle looks like it will be a breath of fresh air, with a less-horror more-action filled film that you may actually be able to enjoy without being scared out of your skin. »

As they learn to control their abilities, and use them to their advantage, their lives start to spin out of control, and their darker sides begin to take over.

Chronicle International Poster Gives Fresh Look at Mischievous Teen Superheroes

16 December 2011 7:29 AM, PST | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

The more I learn about Chronicle, Josh Trank and Max Landis. faux-documentary, found-footage drama, the more I.m intrigued by what we might be in store for early next year. First, it was that fantastic trailer that established a superhero story of three friends who stumble on . something that granst them super powers. At first, like most teenage boys, they use these powers for mischief, as you can see in the international trailer that recently arrived online (courtesy of BadTaste.it): But later, we.ll learn that absolute power corrupts one of these kids absolutely, and Chonicle become something else entirely. The found-footage nature of Trank.s shoot will have several making comparisons to The Blair Witch Project or the Paranormal Activity films, which is understandable. But this origin story reminded me more of M. Night Shyamalan.s Unbreakable, with ordinary citizens being blessed with newfound powers and trying »
