This is the other reason that that this is TV-MA

Wilfred sometimes acts psychotic in several episodes, speaking with a different accent, and acting as if supernatural forces have entered his body, although this is intended to be comical and is played for laughs.

Some scenes could have the potential to frighten young viewers.

A lot of times this show is very emotional and sad. Not for people faint of heart. The show has a happy and sad tone to it. Every episode teaches another important value that is needed in life. Like telling the truth or respecting others.
