Josh Duhamel Shares Cute Video Teaching Baby Axl to Count

1 May 2015 1:45 PM, PDT | TooFab | See recent TooFab news »

Counting with Dad Posted by Josh Duhamel on Thursday, April 30, 2015 Josh Duhamel looks like he's a really hands-on dad!  The actor shared a new video with his son Axl Jack via Facebook on Thursday. In the cute clip, the "Safe Haven" star and his adorable little boy are both lying down next to each other counting off numbers.  Looks like he may need some more practice ... Josh and Fergie -- who welcomed their blonde cutie in 2013 -- still make sure they're both equally involved in their son's life.  "My husband and I made a two-week rule," she said of how long they spend apart in the January issue of Allure magazine. "We’ve already talked about how we’re going to have to trade off. He’s going to have to come on tour with Axl for a while, and then there’ll be a break.  He’ll take a »

Box Office: ‘Furious 7′ Dominates Competition With $60.6 Million

12 April 2015 6:46 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

It wasn’t even a contest.

Furious 7″ roared to the top of the box office chart for the second weekend in a row, picking up $60.6 million and driving its Stateside total to a massive $252.5 million. That’s a slender 59% drop from the Universal Pictures release’s record-breaking $147.2 million debut and puts “Furious 7″ on track to be the highest-grossing film in the history of the “Fast and Furious” franchise.

“People feel like they’re living through the summer movie season right now even though it’s not summer,” said Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst at Rentrak. “It’s the essence of a popcorn movie.”

It’s also the essence of perfect timing. By debuting in April, “Furious 7″ avoided being cannibalized by other major summer tentpole films. The next heavyweight to enter the multiplexes is “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” which doesn’t hit screens until May 1.

If You’re Looking for a Nicholas Sparks Fix, The Longest Ride Will Do the Trick

10 April 2015 10:30 AM, PDT | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

Nicholas Sparks adaptations are their own ecosystem. Though characters never overlap, they might as well all exist in a shared universe — one with its own logic, its own attitudes, and its own idea of fan service. The relationships are interchangeable and easy-to-assemble: Sometimes it’s the boy who’s got the chip on his shoulder, sometimes it’s the girl; sometimes class gets in the way, sometimes war, sometimes differing worldviews. Love always wins out, naturally, but often it does so ironically; Sparks is not one to shy away from killing off a lover or two, which occasionally gives the stories some much-needed suspense.Seen in that light, The Longest Ride is actually one of the more competent Sparks films in some years — a far cry from the creaky noir of Safe Haven, the awkwardly backloaded melodrama of The Best of Me, or the phony brooding of The Lucky One. »

The Longest Ride – The Review

9 April 2015 9:03 PM, PDT | WeAreMovieGeeks.com | See recent WeAreMovieGeeks.com news »

Okay multiplex maniacs, before we make a most welcome return visit to the Marvel Movie Universe, it’s time for that annual (sometimes semi-annual) slog into another movie universe, Sparks-land. I’m talking about another flick based on another product off the novel assembly line from Nicholas Sparks. Box office gold occurred with The Notebook eleven (!) years ago and the studios have been returning with pick, shovel, and camera to that mine ever since. Just like cinema stars and franchises, he’s a brand name. It’s just a question of which familiar themes will be re-hashed and which photogenic actors will be put through some now familiar paces. But hey, we may get a surprise, although this one’s title seems more than a little daunting. Are you ready to embark on The Longest Ride?

This ride begins a year ago as professional bull rider Luke Collins (Scott Eastwood »

'The Longest Ride' (2015) Movie Review

9 April 2015 2:16 PM, PDT | Rope of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news »

There are two types of Nicholas Sparks adaptations. The first is much more common, being the boring, sappy romances where love is the most powerful force in the world and people cry and die (i.e. The Notebook). The second is the stupid, cuckoo bananas romance, terribly pulling in other genre elements to make a hodgepodge bit of nonsense (i.e. Safe Haven). The second is so much more fun to watch, and anytime I start a Sparks film I am hoping for that film. Unfortunately, The Longest Ride, the most recent Sparks adaptation, falls into the first category, and it made me fall in love... with my watch (nailed it!). In the ancient past of 2007, Britt Robertson, whose character's name escapes me (an IMDb search reveals it's Sophia Danko) and it was all I could to do remember she was "not Jennifer Lawrence", is studying art at Wake Forest. »

Ever wanted a peak into the life of Fergie and Josh Duhamel? Well, you're in luck, because E!'s Kristin Dos Santos recently sat down with the Battle Creek star to play a game of battle of the sexes—starring Duhamel and his stunning wife.  From "Who gets to pick what you're eating for dinner?" to "Who gets control of the remote control?," no question was off limits for the Safe Haven stud, who proved his wife doesn't always have the last word (although she does more often than not).  One of the more surprising revelations from the chat is that Duhamel is the parent who is responsible for dressing the couple's one-year-old son, Axl.  Why? »

What's New on TV, Netflix Streaming, Digital, and DVD/Blu-ray This Week: February 2 - February 8

2 February 2015 6:00 AM, PST | Moviefone | See recent Moviefone news »

At a loss for what to watch this week? From new DVDs and Blu-rays, to what's streaming on Netflix, we've got you covered.

New on DVD and Blu-ray

"The Best of Me"

This might not be the best of Nicholas Sparks's oeuvre of weepy romantic dramas, but at least it's not the most insane! (That honor probably goes to "Safe Haven," for the record.) In any case, this story about true love lost and found stars Cyclops from "X-Men" and Michelle Monaghan. If you love Nicholas Sparks, you love him, and nothing anyone else says will change that. Which is sort of admirable, really. Extend your love Sparks with this exclusive featurette.

"Dear White People"

This indie from writer/director Justin Simien is a comedy about race politics on an Ivy League campus. It is funny and smart, and you should see it. Tessa Thompson leads a great ensemble »

Women Composers Strike a Chord in Sundance Lineup

21 January 2015 12:08 PM, PST | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

It’s the year of the woman composer at Sundance, with 15 features and shorts sporting scores by women, along with a celebratory event for the newly formed Alliance for Women Film Composers.

That number is believed to be a record. Female composers wrote the music for just 2% of the top 250 grossing films in 2013, according to the Center for the Study of Women in Television and Film. Numbers were slightly higher in documentaries (11% ) and independent films (10%) but overall constituted “the lowest of the low” among women working behind the scenes, says composer Laura Karpman.

Karpman, a four-time Emmy winner, has been working in the biz for 25 years and concedes that “it’s a boys’ club” much of the time.

In fact, she says, “there are hundreds of us” — women working as composers, orchestrators, programmers and composer assistants — but they are surprisingly invisible to much of the industry. “We have to change that, »

Fox Plans "Grease" Musical, NBC On "Pan" Flop

17 January 2015 12:40 PM, PST | Dark Horizons | See recent Dark Horizons news »

NBC had huge success with "The Sound of Music Live" two years ago, pulling 18.5 million viewers for the one-off event. Yet while many know "The Sound of Music" off by heart, inexplicably the network chose the far less popular or even known stage musical version of "Peter Pan" for a follow-up.

Understandably, the ratings fell with just 9.1 million viewers tuning in for that broadcast. At the TCA Winter Tour presentation this week, NBC chairman Robert Greenblatt put the blame for the failure on the lack of star power and the lack of awareness of "Peter Pan" as a stage musical. They also suggested either "The Wiz" or "The Music Man" for their next attempt.

If there's one musical movie as ubiquitous and well-known as "The Sound of Music" though, it's "Grease" and Fox announced plans today for a live television production of "Grease: The Musical". The broadcast plans to »

Jennifer Lawrence and Director Francis Lawrence Are the Latest to Take Over James Cameron’s The Dive

17 January 2015 7:00 AM, PST | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

In the fall of 2003, James Cameron filmed the record-breaking “no limits” free dive of Pipin Ferreras, which was a special event commemorating the death of Ferreras’s wife, Audrey Mestre. A year earlier, she drowned attempting the same feat of reaching a depth of 170 meters (557.7 feet) while holding her breath. During the press conference for the 2003 dive, Cameron confirmed earlier reports from that summer that he would be making a movie about the couple, and it would wind up being based on Ferreras’s 2004 memoir, “The Dive: A Story of Love and Obsession.” More than a decade later, Cameron has been focusing his directorial interests on the Avatar movies, but he’s continued developing the project with other filmmakers coming on board to take the helm. Martin Campbell (Casino Royale) became attached back in 2012, and now Francis Lawrence is the latest substitution, according to The Wrap. He also has an actress joining him for the role »
