- "Desperate Housewives" - "Come On Over For Dinner" - May 15, 2011
Susan and Mike finally move back into their house on Wisteria Lane now that Paul Young is gone once again. She's excited to be back to hang with her friends.
Meanwhile, Bree and Chuck jog and race. All sweaty and fired up they make out. She stops them saying she needs to take a shower. He decides to join her and says he's ready to have sex after all. Then Susan rings the bell asking for coffee. Bree turns her down but Vance thinks it was a sign from God and they have to wait after all.
Tom and Lynette return from their trip. Tom announces he's moving out to an apartment near the office owned by the company. She's against it, he thinks time apart would be good. Susan rings the doorbell but Lynette turns her down for a coffee. Lynette says they can't give up, they have to fight to save their family. He thinks all they're doing is just fighting.
Gaby spies her stepdad sitting in a car outside her house. She grabs her new gun to go confront him and then Susan knocks on the door. Gaby asks for a raincheck. Susan heads home, dejected.
The girls all show up the next day, Bree with muffins, to say sorry and welcome her back. They apologize. Renee points out that Susan never rang her bell. Susan is explaining her Felicia/Paul story when Renee gets and ignores a phone call from her ex-husband. Renee starts talking about how her ex always calls when "he needs" her so that is probably why he is calling now. Renee continues talking about her issues and Lynette says it is Susan's night to shine, not Renee's! Bree announces they're doing a progressive party for her to welcome her back: drinks at Renee's house, salad at Lynette's house, entree at Bree's house, dessert at Gaby's house.
Bree invites Renee to go shopping at Doreen's (Chuck's ex wife) biker boutique. This is to help put Chuck's soon-to-be ex in a good mood for the meeting with the lawyer. Bree buys a bunch of ridiculous stuff. Then Bree slips up and calls her by her name and Doreen figures out who she is. Things get testy but then Doreen, clearly pretending, says things will be just fine. Doreen calls her lawyer after Bree leaves and says they can do better and she tells the lawyer that he should tear up the divorce agreement she said she'd sign.
Gaby gets in her car and drives off and her stepfather, Alejandro, follows her. She pulls over to a spot by the road and gets out her gun. She walks into the woods and he follows. She confronts him saying she thought he was dead. Alejandro says he's angry because she was in their hometown talking about him molesting her. She pulls out her gun and fires off a warning shot and calls him out for the rapist he is and was. She tells him to get on his knees. He asks her not to "do this." She says she remembers asking him the same thing and it didn't work. He apologizes and admits to raping her. She holds the gun to his head but can't shoot. She forces him back into his car and tells him to go back to being dead. Shaken, she vomits.
On the night of the dinner party, Carlos tries to beg off because he's tired and because of Bree. He says he needs to go to the office and catch up on some work. Carlos finds her gun. Gaby tells him about what happened. He hugs her and says if he had been there he would've shot him like a dog.
Renee chats with the bartender, a hot young guy, basically telling him to stop gabbing and start working. Bob and Lee break the news that Renee's ex-husband is getting re-married, the reason he was calling her. She downs a big drink from the bartender.
Lynette's getting ready and Penny says dad isn't "back" yet. He left while she was in the shower. Lynette looks and Tom's suitcase is gone.
Gaby arrives at Renee's who is singing atop the piano, drunk and bereft with the song: "My Funny Valentine.' Lee tries to talk her down.
Detective Chuck Vance arrives and he angrily tells Bree that Doreen's lawyer called him a short while ago and she now wants the lake house, and even MORE alimony payments. Vance feels like Bree knows he's desperate. Bree quickly realizes that her half-baked visit to Doreen's boutique has made his ex-wife more vindcitive and wanting to get back at him even more. But Bree does not come clean about her visit to Doreen's and pretends to show Chuck sympathy.
Lynette arrives at the party, alone. She says Tom has to work. Gaby says the same of Carlos. Susan tells Lynette that Penny has it in her head that her parents are splitting up but Susan reassured her that wouldn't happen. Lynette whispers "Tom left me." They walk outside and talk and head to Lynette's house to make her salads. And Tom is there and Lynette is surprised. Turns out that he only went out to get Mandarin oranges. He says he put the suitcase in the closet.
The party arrives at the Scavo's. Bob and Lee break the news about Renee's ex husband to Lynette. She barges in, wasted with her "date" Edgar, the bartender. They start making out.
Bree goes to talks to Chuck and he's on the phone telling Doreen she can have all his money and the lake house. Bree thanks him. They decide to skip the salad and go straight for the entree (wink, wink).
The drunk Renee keeps making a fool of herself and Lee continues to try and talk her down.
Lynette joins Tom in the study and he offers her a drink. He says he was in fact trying to leave her but he changed his mind, knowing it wasn't the right way to do it, picturing her alone at the party having to make stuff up. Lynette explains she thought her worst fear: him leaving her, had come true. She said she kept waiting to feel devastated but instead she felt something she couldn't articulate. And then when she saw him when she walked in she realized what she had been feeling, it was relief. (Ouch). He asks what they're going to say to people. She says nothing, and that Susan's night. He says they shouldn't tell anyone until they tell the kids. Lynette says "oh God, the kids."
Bree and Chuck do the deed, successfully it seems. Unfortunately, this did in her chickens. They rush downstairs as everyone is walking in. The smoke alarm is going off and the chickens are ruined. They're clearly in flagrante when they confront everyone. Bree says her oven malfunctioned. Everyone giggles and drinks wine as Bree and Chuck go to buy more chickens.
Renee and Edgar's "relationship" is going through all of its stages in a few hours.
Renee breaks the news to Lynette that she and Edgar are "over." But she says she knows that it's really about Doug and how he no longer needs her. Lynette breaks down and she tells Renee the news. Renee says "no, not you guys!" Renee hugs her as she cries.
The dinner continues apace and Susan gives a nice little speech for being welcomed back to the Lane, thanking each friend indiviually.
Gaby goes to get the dessert ready and is confronted by her stepfather, Alejandro, who broke into the house and he says a bunch of vile and hateful stuff to her about how slutty she was as a teenager and he goes to put his hand over her mouth again like he used to. Gaby is horrified but doesn't fight back demonstrably because he implies that he has her gun in his jacket. Carlos arrives home and sees what's happening and strikes him on the back of the head with a candlestick. (Carlos with the candlestick in the living room!)
Gaby freaks out and wants to call the police until Carlos realizes he's dead and unarmed. Susan, Bree, and Lynette arrive to help out and see the body. Carlos admits he's dead. Gaby says it will be impossible to explain to the police since the man was already presumed dead and she never reported him raping her when she was a teenager. Carlos says if he has to go to prison for protecting his wife he will. Bree, of course, says that won't be necessary. They all pitch in to dispose of the body before the rest of the party guests arrive and, amazingly, the party continues.
As the episode (and the season) ends, Carlos has apparently forgiven Bree concealing her own son's responsibility for the hit-and-run death of Carlos's mother. Alejandro's body has apparently been hidden inside the storage chest which serves as the centerpiece of the evening's final course.
