Paul Young, as well as Mike and Susan get the news simultaneously: for Susan that a kidney is available, for Paul about Beth. She's not dead though, but she's on life support after her attempted suicide to keep her kidney vital.
The ladies meet Susan at the hospital to congratulate her. The doctors inform her about Beth's suicide attempt and tell her that Paul will be delaying things as he says goodbye. Bree feels bad for having seen her the previous day and not reaching out.
Later that day, McCluskey calls Bree over to collect a drunk Andrew. Bree and Andrew's gay husband bring him to her house. She reads him the riot act saying he could be an alcoholic like her since he's genetically pre-disposed. Andrew brushes her off. His hubby tells Bree that his drinking problem is really bad and he's thinking of leaving him. Bree asks him to reconsider and says she'll try to help Andrew.
Meanwhile, Renee had been planning a party, a spring fling, and says she's still having it. Gaby thinks it's weird since Beth is on life support. Renee says life is for the living, so let's live.
Susan sees Paul in hospital and expresses gratitude and condolences. Paul says he's keeping Beth alive for as long as possible and will not let Susan strip her for parts. Paul claims that Beth was not in her right mind when she signed the papers to donate one of her kidneys and Susan doesn't deserve it.
Mike and Susan go to the doctors who say it's too delicate to wage legal battle against Beth's grieving husband. Mike says that Paul is not grieving. He's got a vendetta against Mike and the family. Mike says they can't let him win. Susan says 'no' for they cannot fight him for Beth shot herself under her own violition and it's Paul's decision not theirs to have her kidneys donated.
Bree tricks Andrew into going to an AA meeting. He balks at first. But he stays, claiming to others his name is Elvis.
A business associate, named Glen, plays golf with Tom and Carlos and decides he wants to hire Tom away from Carlos as his new CFO with a big payday. Tom turns him down out of loyalty to Carlos for he doesn't want to leave Carlos in the lurch. Glen says the conversation isn't over and his offer still stands. Lynette wants Tom to take the job for it would make great money. Tom says he won't screw over Carlos and he says it's his decision.
At the meeting, Andrew/Elvis does his first share and complains about having a controlling person in his life: his mother. He badmouths her and Bree gets upset but is still pretending she doesn't know him. (It's anonymous of course.) They get into a little back and forth. He leaves as they recite the serenity prayer.
People are aghast at Gaby that she and and Renee are still having their Spring party. They all turn her down, including Bree and Karen McCluskey. Renee is angry and says they're still doing it. Gaby wants to change the date since it's in poor taste, but Renee puts her foot down. Gaby thanks her for making her the compassionate one.
Mike wants to know why Susan won't let him fight to get Beth's kidney. Susan says it just feels wrong. Mike says it was Beth's final wish. Susan says it doesn't make any sense, especially since they never had so much as a pleasant exchange.
Meanwhile, Lynette tries to bribe Tom into taking the job with sex. He says he's not taking the job. She gets mad. She loves that he's loyal but wants him to at least try to get something out of it from Carlos, leverage-wise.
Paul goes to visit Felicia Tillman at the prison chapel. Apparently, Felicia tried to have Beth declared dead and her life support turned off. Paul says she's not dead. Felicia says she is and they know what killed her. They did, the hate they hurled at each other claimed a victim. Felicia explains Beth really loved him, but he refused to believe it and Felicia turned her away. Paul says he believes she can recover. Felicia says she isn't praying for Beth, she's praying for forgiveness and they need to let Beth to rest.
Bree goes to see Andrew and tries to coax him to another meeting. He declines and says he is fine. He admits he's got problems: he is unemployed, and has a partner who works all day. He says a few drinks are what he looks forward to and he's not hurting anyone and that he'll be okay. She says if he says so and leaves. Bree then returns and says she didn't do enough to help Beth and she's not going to do it again and certainly not with her son. He admits that Alex left him and starts to cry. He wonders what he did. She says it will get better but that he needs to go to a meeting. He's scared and doesn't want to talk in front of a bunch of strangers. She says they can hold a meeting right there, just the two of them. He hands her his drink.
Tom goes to Carlos and tells him about Glen's offer and promises he didn't seek it out. He does point out how generous the offer was and asks if maybe Carlos could match it. Carlos says he doesn't have the money to pay Tom what Glen is offering, but he doesn't want to lose him and offers him some perks: car allowance, a title, profit participation. Lynette says that it sounds like a bunch of crap. She harangues Tom for walking away from real money and power for a bogus title and and allowance. Tom wonders why she keeps pushing him. She says because if she doesn't he won't go anywhere. Tom is offended. Lynette won't take it back, saying he's a great husband and father, but not an ambitious businessman. He says he won't stab Carlos in the back. Lynette says Carlos would do the same thing to him if he got the chance, and Tom needs to get ruthless. Tom tells Lynette that he'll show her how ruthless he can get if she doesn't drop this.
Gaby goes over to Renee's and can't believe so many people came. Renee claims that they're the "party circuit elite." But it turns out it's less than elite: pool cleaners, teenagers, the animal control guy. Gaby wonders why Renee still had the party when the people she wanted to come were too sad to come. Renee refers to Beth as a selfish bitch for attempting suicide and clearly it means something to her. Gaby realizes that Renee's mother killed herself many years ago and old feelings are being churned up for her and it's the reason why she was so determined to have the party. Gaby tries to get her to talk about it. The cold and unfeeling Renee says she never was a hug-and-learn kind of gal. Renee says she won't forget what her mother did by commiting suicide.. thus leaving her, but she'll refuse to let it define her. Renee says that her party is her way of choosing life over death. Gaby agrees to stay and support her.
Lynette takes a snazzy sports car for a test drive to try and wow Tom into taking the new job. She does this by parking it in Carlos' driveway to make Tom think Carlos is slapping him in the face with his cries of company poverty. It works and he gets mad at Carlos and says he's got half a mind to call Glen and take the job. She tells him to use his whole mind and do it. He does. Lynette is thrilled. He says telling Carlos to go screw himself will feel good. So Lynette comes clean. Tom of course, is livid that she manipulated him... again. He tells her to get in the car and they're taking it back. They get in and she tells him this car could be his, he could be this guy. She wonders if he's asked himself if even wants it. Then he turns on the car. He likes how it feels and asks when it needs to be back. She says they can take it back late and he likes that and peels out.
Paul goes to visit Susan. He tells her that he's giving her the kidney after all. She asks why and says he was right about the way she treated Beth. He says Beth didn't love people because they deserved it, he knows that. He asks her to honor Beth's life by allowing her to make her well for her family and friends. Susan says 'okay'. He thanks her. She expresses her condolences again about Beth. He says he's sorry too and starts to cry. Susan hugs him in consolation.
Bree and Andrew have their meeting.
Tom heads off to his new job.
Susan goes into surgery as Paul lets Beth go.
Felicia prays. The warden comes to her and tells her she's been granted her request for humanitarian release by the parole board. She looks all devious as he leaves.
