- Tommy and Sheila do their best to adjust to life after Damian's accident. Sheila copes with her grief, Tommy struggles to budget his time, and the guys find themselves with a new pickup ploy.
- Sheila talks to her therapist on the phone, saying there's a difference between knowing something and accepting it. She says as a mother she still thinks she sees him walking around. She blames herself and him.
She blames the baby he saved.
She works on her mantra: "It's not my fault."
She gets off the phone calmly and a few seconds later collapses in body wracking sobs. She pulls herself together when she hears Tommy come in. He asks how the phone thing was and assures her it's not her fault. He even got her a book on the subject.
Tommy says Teddy saw Mickey at a meeting. She says it couldn't happen to a nicer douchebag.
She walks over and tells someone she's going to see a doctor who might help him walk again. We pan back and see Damian, twitching in a wheelchair, with burn marks on his face. Tommy prepares to make him dinner.
At the house, Sean announces tomorrow is the official unveiling of the Patrick Mahoney memorial pavilion in Central Park. There's some debate over what a pavilion is. Sean thinks it's a number bigger than a billion.
They think they should bring Damian. He's been in a chair for two months.
Mike comes in announces he saw Mickey in a bodega two blocks away. They say he has some set of balls for showing his face after what he did.
Lou's doctor stops by, wondering why he hasn't retired. He knows Lou has a physical coming up that he won't pass. Lou says all he has is the job and cake. The doctor asks him what happens if he dies in a fire and some or all of his crew dies trying to save him.
Tommy comes home. Katie asks for help on her essay. Colleen's mad because he forgot to take her to an AA meeting. Janet says everyone's pretty much mad at him. She says he's missed three dinners this week "spoon-feeding your brain damaged god son and giving emotional support to your ex girlfriend" while he disappoints his own family.
She accuses him of having emotional ADD. Janet asks about Mickey.
Janet tells him he needs to make Katie's dance recital tomorrow and Colleen's 50th meeting in 50 days.
Tommy spoon feeds Damian at Sheila's house. She wants to find the specialist with alternative therapies. It costs $25,000 a month.
Sheila thanks Tommy, saying he's stepping up, unlike Mickey. She doesn't want to talk about it.
Damien makes a noise and they think he wants a drink. They curse Mickey again.
Colleen calls her dad, saying she's going to start drinking again. He finds her in a liquor store. She's mad because he was supposed to be her sponsor, but isn't being there for her. She says she doesn't even want to drink, she just wanted to see how fast he'd get there.
Tommy comes to the firehouse and finds it deathly silent. Mickey is there. He brought Tommy hockey DVDs he borrowed. He goes to leave.
Tommy asks if there's something he wants to say. He punches Tommy, Tommy punches back.
Tommy calls Mickey a "no good, gutless, spineless" wimp and Mickey agrees, saying he abandoned his girlfriend.
Mickey says he left Sheila because she's wasting her life and hope on a string of quacks. He says he told her the truth, that Damian isn't walking again. So she threw him out. He says if they had any balls, they'd tell her the same thing.
At the pavilion dedication, Franco realizes it's a bathroom. Tommy walks up with Damian. The guys stop a suit, who says Pat's family had their pick of places and chose it. He tells them to "go with the flow."
Lou joins them, having accidentally inaugurated it. "I had a huge lunch, and it had to be tacos," he says.
Franco's ready to storm off in protest. Lou gives Sean his keys and sends him to his truck.
Colleen calls her dad. Her meeting's in 15 minutes. The recital is in an hour. Teddy's at the meeting with Colleen as her new sponsor. Tommy gives Damian's van keys to Lou and asks him to watch him.
The suit announces the dedication to Pat but when the curtain opens he finds the plaque is gone.
Back home, Tommy finds Janet has left for the recital. He grabs some food out of the fridge.
Lou and Sean affix the plaque somewhere new. Franco tells him it's going to get taken down. Lou says he used his special "ninja glue." They think it proves you can fight city hall.
At home, Tommy knocks a book off the shelf and finds an envelope inside. It's a pregnancy test for Janet. It's positive.
Sheila calls Tommy asking where Damian is. He says he's stuck in traffic. Sheila wants to go to a seminar on paralysis. She wants to talk to Damian. He holds the phone to air as she baby talks him, then coos back at her. She thinks it means he's responding to her for the first time.
Tommy calls Lou, who has taken Damian to the bar. The guys stand him and wonder what he's thinking. Some hot chicks come over to them and ask what happened to Damian. They think it's "sweet" that they still hang out with him.
They claim they take care of him. Franco feeds him, Sean says he bathes him. They ask Mike what he does, he says he changes his diaper.
When the girls go wait for them at the bar, they're marveling at their luck. They think he's a "paralyzed p--- magnet."
Needles finally puts a stop to it. Then another woman comes over and asks Needles about him and soon he's off talking to her.
Janet calls Tommy let him know he missed the recital. She reminds him Pat is dead and gone and "for all intents and purposes" so is Damian.
He asks if there's anything else she wants to tell him. Nothing comes to mind.
Janitors clean up city hall, arguing over who has to clean the Pat Mahoney Pavilion.
At Sheila's, Tommy sits with Damian and reads a flier about pregnancy that he found in Janet's stuff. Damian's blanket falls off and he goes to fix it.
Suddenly, Damian grabs his wrist and stares at him: "You did this to me, Tommy."
