London — ABC Studios is to shoot the pilot for its musical comedy fairytale “Galavant” in the U.K. It is ABC’s first show to take advantage of the U.K.’s new tax credit for high-end television shows.

The show, which is penned, created and exec produced by Dan Fogelman (“Cars,” “The Guilt Trip,” “The Neighbors”), toplines Joshua Sasse (“Rogue”) as handsome Prince Galavant, who seeks revenge on the evil King Richard, who stole the beautiful Madalena, played by Mallory Jansen. Show also features Karen David, Luke Youngblood and Vinnie Jones.

Alan Menken is writing the music, and Glenn Slater is penning the lyrics. Menken, Slater and Fogelman recently collaborated on a musical episode of ABC’s “The Neighbors,” earning the program its first Emmy nomination for the series.

The pilot will lense early next year. ABC plans to recruit roughly 150 cast and crew from the U.K.

Jerry Bruckheimer is going back to Paramount Pictures after the two side reached a three-year, first-look agreement for theatrical films that will begin in April 2014.

The 70-year-old veteran producer has been looking to secure a new home for his movie releases since October, when Disney opted not to renew his deal beyond this year.

Jerry Bruckheimer is one of the most creative and prolific producers in motion picture history,” said Paramount Pictures Chairman and CEO Brad Grey. “His signature style has attracted huge global audiences and we are thrilled to have him back in the Paramount family.”

“It is great to be back at Paramount,” Bruckheimer said. “I look forward to working with Brad Grey and his entire team.”

Bruckheimer has a handful of films in development at Paramount, including sequels to “Beverly Hills Cop” and “Top Gun,” the latter of which Skydance is also attached to finance and produce. »

Well it finally happened; Now TV added a superb catch up/live option for their TV channels including Sky Atlantic, Living, Fox and even UK Gold! So now for just £4.99 a month you can get shows like Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Hannibal and Eastbound and Down as they happen or whenever you want.

Considering that the movies package is now just £8.99 a month and the TV is £4.99 on top of this, it becomes clear that this is probably going to place them as the major contender now and Lovefilm/Amazon and Netflix need to start cranking out those exclusive series’ with major names pretty fast.

The term “All sewn up” comes to mind.

There's something about being in an enclosed tin box for an extended amount of time that brings out comedy gold. The claustrophobia of a car journey and the repetitive nature of a long, open road has frequently conjured up some hilarious road trip classics. In celebration of The Guilt Trip driving its way onto Sky Movies Premiere, here's a rundown of what we consider the funniest cinematic road trips of all time. »

Should You Go See the ‘Captain Phillips’ Sneak Preview This Weekend?

4 October 2013 9:00 AM, PDT | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

Paul Greengrass’ true-life heart-stopper Captain Phillips may be opening next Friday, October 11, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be able to see the film a whole six days early – at least, that’s what Sony Pictures seems to think. This Saturday, the studio will sneak preview the film in around 800 theaters around the country (you can see exactly where right here), and while Captain Phillips is already one of my favorite films of the year, I’m not wholly convinced it necessitates a sneak preview.  The sneak preview model isn’t a totally out of the box method of marketing, though it’s not utilized too often. In 2011, Fox launched weekend sneak previews for its We Bought a Zoo, positioning the family-friendly film for a Thanksgiving weekend release without actually having to change its release date. Last year, The Guilt Trip got its own sneak weekend, complete with a special video Q&A with stars »

The Guilt Trip Director Takes On A Nick And Nora-Esque Couple In Murder Mystery

25 September 2013 1:54 AM, PDT | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

Relationships are hard on an easy day, much less on a day when caught up in a scandal like the one in Murder Mystery, the long-delayed action comedy mystery that was acquired as the second release under the newly-formed TWC-Dimension, which teamed up with Endgame Entertainment for the project. According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Guilt Trip director Anne Fletcher has been hired to direct, which sounds like a safe and not very groundbreaking decision. But I.m jazzed that this flick is gaining ground again, so I.ll withhold most judgment. Murder Mystery will follow a pair who take the honeymoon cruise they never had as a last ditch effort to save their marriage, unwittingly becoming a part of a murder mystery after one of their cruise mates gets killed. To figure out the murderer.s identity, they travel across Europe, and there.s a good chance that trip »

'The Proposal' Director Planning 'Murder Mystery' from 'Zodiac' Scribe

24 September 2013 12:18 PM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

After making a splash awhile back with The Proposal starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds, director Anne Fletcher didn't fare too well with the comedy pairing of Seth Rogen and Barbra Streisand in The Guilt Trip. Now she's heading into different romantic comedy territory with a project called Murder Mystery. The Weinstein Company announced today that their TWC-Dimension arm is working with Endgame on the "action whodunit comedy" with Fletcher directing from a script by James Vanderbilt (Zodiac, The Amazing Spider-Man). You can decipher what the inciting incident is, but there's a bit more. The press release says the film follows a married couple who takes the honeymoon they never had in hopes of saving their struggling marriage. But the two soon find themselves in the middle of their very own murder mystery when one of their fellow cruise passengers is found dead. They must travel across Europe to discover »

The Proposal Director Anne Fletcher to Helm Murder Mystery

24 September 2013 10:50 AM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Bob and Harvey Weinstein’s newly minted TWC-Dimension label has snatched up another project.  The company will team up with Endgame to produce the action comedy Murder Mystery, with The Proposal director Anne Fletcher signing on to take the helm.  Written by James Vanderbilt (Zodiac, White House Down), the film revolves around a married couple that takes a long-delayed honeymoon in the hopes of saving their marriage.  When one of their fellow cruise ship passengers turns up dead, the two set out across Europe to track down the murderer and maybe salvage their relationship in the process. Both Kevin Macdonald (State of Play) and John Madden (Shakespeare in Love) were at different points attached to direct Murder Mystery, and Charlize Theron was initially poised to star in Madden’s iteration.  Obviously those directors fell off, but Theron is still involved as a producer.  Fletcher most recently helmed The Guilt Trip. »

‘Walking Dead’ Actress Lands the Villain Role in ‘Dumb and Dumber To’

16 September 2013 4:15 PM, PDT | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

It’s likely that all fans of Dumb and Dumber needed to know about Dumb and Dumber To in order to be on board with it is that brothers Peter and Bobby Farrelly would be back to direct and Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey would be back to star as the film’s idiotic heroes, Harry and Lloyd. Some additional casting announcements that happened today have given us a bit more of an idea of what this sequel’s story is going to be about though, just in case you’re the sort of person who would worry about plot and whatnot. The first bit of news was broken by Deadline, who revealed that Walking Dead actress Laurie Holden is going to join the film in what was called the female lead of the film. The role will see her playing a character named Adele Pichlow who is described as being the well-to-do wife of a doctor »

Film Review: 'We're the Millers'

27 August 2013 3:16 AM, PDT | CineVue | See recent CineVue news »

★★☆☆☆ We're the Millers (2013), the new comedy from Dodgeball director Rawson Marshall Thurber, has the rare distinction of being both offensive and tedious at the same time. It's like the bastard offspring of this year's The Guilt Trip and 2010's Horrible Bosses, languishing between a familial road movie and a gross-out comedy. Thurber aims for a please-all comic strategy that feels mischievously naughty while remaining ultimately safe and middle of the road, but the reality is a wholly unconfident, tonally disjunctive summer ride. Saturday Night Live stalwart Jason Sudeikis stars as David, a middle-aged drug dealer.

David recruits a band of misfits making up the nuclear idyll for a marijuana smuggling road to trip to Mexico and back. The script, written by the writers of Wedding Crashers and Hot Tub Time Machine, is quick to point out some crucial facts about the characters: David is a small-time dope-peddler, but he doesn't sell to kids, »

James Franco Roast: The Best Jokes

Nothing was off limits at Comedy Central's James Franco Roast last night in Los Angeles. Funny people like Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Andy Samberg, Sarah Silverman and Bill Hader were among the roasters who ripped into, among others things, Franco's infamous Oscar hosting, speculation about his sexuality, his unexplainable art projects, his poetry and so much more. Roast Master Rogen opened the night by wondering aloud why he agreed to host the evening. "How high was I when I said I would do this?" Franco's Pineapple Express costar cracked. "Is this punishment for The Guilt Trip?" What followed was a hilarious two-hour show of roasters not only skewing Franco, but also each »
