Surf Monk chronicles the inner and outer search of a group of monks who make their home in New York City. Students of the late Indian teacher, Sri Chinmoy who lived in Queens for over 40 years, this band of friends discovered the beauty and power of the nearby surfing beaches and incorporated their love for the ocean into their search for enlightenment. Surf Monk explores the ideals which drive their life as well as the pounding winter surf which sustains them. Written by Anonymous
Classic movie for all surfers out there who do it tough searching for waves. It also has a nice spiritual side to it which most surfers can identify with. The short film is set in New York City and the nearby ocean vista.
The movie looks at monks who surf, they are students of the late Spiritual leader Sri Chinmoy and it looks at there forthcoming relationship with the ocean and meditation. It has been on at heaps of surf festivals which shows how good it is. First time director Sanjay Rawal had his next big project on at Tribecca so he has some talent to scenically capture moments on film.
