His entire childhood, Nate could never find "the lady" hiding among the 3-Card Monte dealt by the flying fingers of Jimmy Ford (Tom Skerritt). Jimmy is out of prison and directing a Russian crew who blackmails innocent people into doing their bidding. Nate forces his way in--Jimmy is all talk, thinking he can outcon his son (the altar boy) while Nate is determined to find the Queen. Did You Know?


When Nate pretends to be Sophie's lawyer, he uses the alias "Jimmy Popodokolos". This is the same name he used during the con he and his crew ran in, in which his cover was also as a lawyer. Both episodes were season 2 and season 3 episode number 9, See more »


When Nate catches his father in the police station, he raises a revolver and points it at him. There is the sound of the hammer being cocked as he raises the gun. However, the hammer is down while they talk. At one point Nate lowers the revolver and there is a sound of the hammer being lowered. A few moments later, he raises the revolver again, and again, we hear the sound of the hammer being cocked. This time, however, he actually does thumb the hammer back and it is visibly cocked. Eliot Spencer: Well, I would imagine he has a chess board set up in the back room. Looks a lot like yours.
Nathan Ford: No, dad doesn't like chess. His game's three-card Monte. Just keep the cards moving. Don't show you the queen until he wants you to see the queen.
Sophie Devereaux: All right, so we don't have enough information to run a con on this guy. Not yet, anyways. So, um, why don't we just sit this one out?
