Storyline

Having disposed of serial killer Boyd Fowler, Dexter now has to figure out what to do with the young woman he found alive in Fowler's house and who saw him get rid of her captor. He manages to identify her as Lumen Pierce from Minnesota but has to get her to trust him. Although still on leave, Dexter agrees to Debra's request that he examine the crime scene where the most recent beheading took place. He finds evidence that gives them their first real lead in the killings. Quinn is convinced that Dexter is the Kyle Butler who had befriended the Trinity Killer and sets out to find Trinity's family so he can show them Dexter's photo. Batista tries to avoid an Internal Affairs investigation by apologizing to the cop he beat up. Written by garykmcd

Quotes

Dexter Morgan: I'm so sorry. I know I'm late.
Sonya: "Late" doesn't quite capture it: it's been all night.
Dexter Morgan: I know. It's just...
Dexter Morgan: [thinking] I killed a man in front of a witness I just had to tranquilize to keep her from scratching my eyes out.
Sonya: What?
Dexter Morgan: I'll make it up to you.
Sonya: [scoffs] I don't think so.
Dexter Morgan: What's that mean?
Sonya: It means I don't think this is a good fit, and I won't be returning.

Dexter has a problem with the woman that witnessed him killing Boyd Fowler and he does not know what to do since his code does not allow him to kill innocents. Debra calls him to the crime scene of a beheaded victim and Dexter takes the fingerprints of the woman and finds that she is Lumen Ann Pierce from Minnesota. The nanny Sonya leaves Dexter because she does not believe in his explanations for arriving late. Quinn follows the FBI agent Walker and finds the location of the safe house but he is arrested by the FBI agents and suspended by LaGuerta. Angel has problems with the Internal Affairs and apologizes with the wounded detective in the hospital. Lumen does not trust on Dexter and does not take medicines. Dexter discovers her luggage in a low budget hotel and brings it to Lumen. Dexter succeeds in convincing Sonya to give another chance to him. Debra leads a raid against the suspect Carlos Fuentes but he escapes. Lumen flees from Dexter and he shows Boyd's victim in the lake. Lumen tells that there were other men abusing of her.

"Beauty and the Beast" is a great episode and Julia Stiles is an excellent actress and now she is important character of this promising season. The subplots are very well developed and engaging. The final revelation of Lumen gives a hint that Dexter will certainly help the traumatized young woman to revenge the abuses she has suffered. My vote is nine.
