Despicable Me 2 Trailer

31 October 2012 1:05 PM, PDT | FilmJunk | See recent FilmJunk news »

Considering that the teaser trailer for Despicable Me 2 just featured a group of minions singing "Barbara Ann", I kind of expected the first full theatrical trailer to showcase some actual footage from the movie. And while it's entirely possible that these scenes are in the movie, this new trailer just plays like a Halloween-themed short film featuring those lovable minions. It doesn't even have an appearance from Gru (Steve Carell), but I guess we all know by now that the minions are the star of the show. I still have not seen the entirety of the first film, but the movie made $540 million worldwide and a sequel is guaranteed money in the bank. The plot remains "undisclosed" at this time, which sounds to me like they're making it up as they go along. However, if this trailer is to be believed, then perhaps it has something to do with golf, »

‘Despicable Me 2′ Halloween Teaser

31 October 2012 12:30 PM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Despicable Me 2 has released a cute little Halloween inspired teaser featuring our minion buddies. The teaser sees two minions explore a strange sound in the garden, complete with the theme from John Carpenter’s Halloween (which you can read all about here). It doesn’t give us anything on the plot, which is currently under wraps, but more should be revealed soon as it has a summer release next year. Many animations have tried to recreate the charm and cute appeal of the minions, but so far they have all failed miserably.

Despicable Me 2 is released 28th June 2013. It stars the vocal talents of Steve Carell, Russell Brand, Al Pacino, Kristen Wiig, Miranda Cosgrove, and Steve Coogan.

New Despicable Me 2 Trailer Lands

Illumination Entertainment and Universal know what we want to see from the Despicable Me sequel. We want adorable Minions. All right, we also want Steve Carell’s chucklesome Gru, but mostly? Minions. And that’s exactly what we get in this new teaser for the film. Check it out  in HD at Apple’s trailer pad. There’s a definite sense that the Despicable Me 2 team are taking the comedy teaser approach to selling the new movie, with a series of brief interludes starring the yellow troublemakers. This time, we’re treated to a Halloween-themed vid (including the iconic theme music) that sees two of the creatures spooked by something outside, then scared even more by an ominous light from above. What we haven’t got yet is a clear idea of what the plot will be, but honestly, it’s good they’re not giving too much away at this early stage. »

Despicable Me 2 Trailer: Minions Wear Cute Costumes for Halloween

31 October 2012 11:00 AM, PDT | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

This summer, Universal announced their plan to follow the sequel to the massive hit Despicable Me with a third film that focuses only on the yellow, pill-shaped minions. As was the case with the teaser for Despicable Me 2 (Despicable Us?), the first official trailer exclusively stars these little scene-stealers. So, sure, Steve Carell's voice is nowhere to be heard, but who cares when you get to see one of these guys in an argyle sweater vest and knickers. This sequel is set for the next Fourth of July weekend, so start engineering your yellow prolate spheroid fireworks today (because it sounds like a difficult project, so you'll need some time)! »

‘Despicable Me 2′ Trailer: Well, Hope You Like Those Minions

31 October 2012 11:00 AM, PDT | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

Pardon our confusion, but aren’t the minions of Despicable Me fame getting their own feature? (The answer is yes, they are, in 2014.) So why then is this first full-length trailer for Despicable Me 2 so minion-focused? Why are we watching approximately two minutes of two minions talking in their minionspeak, being silly, finding themselves terrified by furry creatures, and maybe (just maybe!) getting abducted by aliens? Is this plot of this film such a closely guarded secret that we can’t even see the vast majority of the project’s most recognizable non-minion lead characters? Well, perhaps. We actually don’t know much about the plot of Despicable Me 2; even its official logline only tells us that the film is “an all-new comedy animated adventure featuring the return of Gru (Steve Carell), the girls, the unpredictably hilarious minions…and a host of new and outrageously funny characters.” Dare to dream that means Jason Segel and »

Steve Carell deals with a multitude of minions in new 'Despicable Me 2' trailer

Steve Carell is back as the voice of evil mastermind Gru in the brand new trailer for "Despicable Me 2," but unsurprisingly the spotlight is on those little, yellow, gibberish-spouting minions that so many viewers fell in love with in the 2010 original.   In the teaser, two minions encounter some strange things one night (aided by John Carpenter's "Halloween" theme, naturally) after taking care of their domestic duties. It looks like someone is collecting them -- could it be Gru?   Watch the trailer from iTunes here: It also features the voices of returning cast mates Russell Brand, Miranda Cosgrove, Kristen »

'Despicable Me 2' Trailer: Now With Even More Minions

31 October 2012 10:01 AM, PDT | NextMovie | See recent NextMovie news »

Never let it be said that Universal failed to exploit popular characters when they had a chance. Case in point: The new trailer for "Despicable Me 2," which features even more of those loveable minions doing goofy, adorable things, seemingly at random.

Who needs plot when you have humanoid Twinkies talking in gibberish?

Of course, the answer is that nobody needs plot when the minions are concerned, as proven by the overwhelming popularity of the tiny yellow breakout stars of 2010's animated hit "Despicable Me." While that film did, in fact, have a storyline, the first teaser trailer for "Despicable Me 2" simply featured a bunch of minions singing nonsense, and fans seemed to love it.

And now the second trailer is here. Besides one tiny cameo from baby Agnes, this new clip features even more minions doing minion-y things without even the remotest hint of a storyline. Well, other than the UFO. »

The Minions Goof off in a New Halloween-Themed Despicable Me 2 Trailer

With those silly minions of his always goofing off on the job, it’s amazing Gru (Steve Carell’s character) ever gets anything done in the “Despicable Me” movies. The latest trailer for the CG sequel finds the minions once again doing what minions do, which is goof off and then get abducted. Or something. Check out the latest trailer for “Despicable Me 2″, which hints at a greater threat. Or at least, the shadow of one. The sequel arrives in theaters on July 3rd, 2013, which is Summer, in case you weren’t sure. This is a kid’s movie, after all, and those minions will really pack in the kids. I personally feel sorry for the poor schmucks who have to clean up the auditoriums after the legion of kids get through with each showing. What a way to earn a living… Carell, of course, returns as the voice of Gru, »

New Trailer and Images for Despicable Me 2

A new trailer and three new images for the animated sequel Despicable Me 2 have been released.  Unlike the teaser, this trailer looks to have footage from the actual film.  The marketing is unsurprisingly centered on those adorable little minions, but this trailer has a pretty cute Halloween bent in keeping with today’s festivities.  It also may or may not hint at some sort of alien presence in the follow-up, but we really get very, very little by way of plot.  Universal knows that the key to getting kids excited for the sequel is showing the minions getting into all sorts of goofy shenanigans—that’s why the they have their own spinoff film in the works. Hit the jump to check out the trailer and images.  The film features the voices of Steve Carell, Al Pacino, and Steve CooganDespicable Me 2 opens in 3D on July 3rd, »

The First Trailer & Images Land for Despicable Me 2

Due out in the height of Summer 2013, Despicable Me 2 is destined to be one of my favourite films of next year. The first film was one of the best animated films in recent memory, and I can’t wait for Gru to return.

We caught a great little teaser trailer earlier in the year, and now the first trailer has officially dropped over at Apple, and it’s naturally pretty brilliant.

Watch: More Minions In First Trailer For 'Despicable Me 2'

31 October 2012 9:24 AM, PDT | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

After somewhat oddly announcing "Despicable Me 2" by having the minions "sing" The Beach Boys earlier this year, Universal has returned with the first official trailer for the sequel to their hit 2010 movie. And they are keeping those yellow creatures -- arguably, the key to the success of the whole thing -- right up front and center. As follow-ups tend to do, the voice cast is upgrading with Al Pacino set to terrify your youngsters as the villain, while Steve Coogan is also among those dropping by in a cast that includes returning voices Kristen Wiig, Russell Brand and Miranda Cosgrove as well. And of course, Steve Carell returns as Gru, who will undoubtedly be hatching even more schemes. As for the trailer, it's essentially a skit that plays right to the small folks, centering on the minions (who are getting their own spin-off feature, in case you forgot). Watch: More Minions Return in Halloween Trailer for 'Despicable Me 2'

The first teaser trailer for Despicable Me 2 gave the Minions the spotlight singing their gibberish version of the Beach Boys' hit Barbara Ann, and now they're still the star of a new Halloween themed teaser for the Universal and Illumination Entertainment sequel. Steve Carell returning as Gru is nowhere to be seen, but the trailer might hint at a villain for the sequel. Otherwise, this simply feels like an animated short you might see before a feature length film. It's still pretty cute and fans of the Minions will not be disappointed as they're operating at full silliness. It's timed right for the season, but we look forward to seeing the story.
