Daytime Emmy Winners: Complete List

Just as they are preparing to split up, Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan on Sunday won their second consecutive Daytime Emmy Award for entertainment talk show hosts for their syndicated chat show “Live with Kelly and Michael.”

Meanwhile, CBS’ “The Talk” won its first Daytime Emmy for entertainment talk show.

The Daytime Emmy win capped a roller coaster two weeks for Ripa and Strahan after the news broke that Strahan would be moving on to “Good Morning America” full-time in the fall. Ripa protested the decision to keep her in the dark until the last minute by sitting out three episodes of “Live” during the week of April 18.

Ripa previously won Daytime Emmys for entertainment talk show host in 2011 and 2012 during her run on “Live” with previous co-host Regis Philbin. The Daytime Emmy Awards were held Sunday night in Los Angeles but the ceremony was not carried on TV. For »

Daytime Emmys Preview: Soaps Keep Audiences With Long-Term Characters

26 April 2016 10:00 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

It’s debatable that there are any “new viewers” out there willing to commit to watching a network soap five days a week. However, the remaining four broadcast soaps have a strategy to maintain their existing audiences, and ward off the threat of cancellation, which has claimed their rivals in recent years: Shine a spotlight on beloved, long-term characters.

That strategy is evident in the episodes each of the four surviving soaps (“The Bold and the Beautiful,” “Days of Our Lives,” “General Hospital” and “The Young and the Restless”) selected as submissions for the Daytime Emmys drama series prize.

Both “General Hospital” submissions are loaded with veteran players, but couldn’t be more different in terms of content. An anniversary episode, featuring black and white segments, harkens back to the show’s early days. The episode resolves the “Fluke” storyline, explaining Luke Spencer’s bizarre behavior and how his parents died. »

‘Young & Restless’ Leads Daytime Emmy Noms But Ceremony Won’t Be on TV

24 March 2016 11:40 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

CBS’ “Young and the Restless” and ABC’s “General Hospital” lead the list of nominees for this year’s Daytime Emmy Awards, which will not be airing on TV for the second time in the past three years.

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has nixed plans for a telecast of the ceremony because of the cost. Last year NATAS set a two-year deal with Pop, the CBS and Lionsgate-owned cabler, for telecast of the show after a debacle in 2014 when the ceremony aired as a live webcast.
