In two scenes, a girl is shown giving oral sex to a man.

A teenaged girl commits suicide by eating a cupcake with harmful substances in it. Very intense and somewhat depressing to watch. this scene is partly portrayed in slow motion to add to the depressing tone of the scene.

A teenaged boy picks up a stray cat with the intention of hurting it. It is implied that the cat is put into a backpack and the boy is beating the cat with a hammer (no impact shown). The boy is interrupted, but we see blood all over his hands. Very disturbing and upsetting.

It is implied that a girl has been raped before.

A man slaps a girl in the face after she performs oral sex on him.

This is not a film to be taken lightly. It is a highly depressing and realistic look at the lives of inner city students and teachers. Suicide, death, abuse, prostitution, and depression are all highly prevalent themes in the movie.

A man's grandfather suffers with what seems to be Alzheimers and we see the pain his grandson goes through due to it. Later on in the film, the man dies.

In a flashback, a woman is shown to have overdosed and died .

A teenage girl commits suicide.

A cat is implied to be brutally abused until death. Very hard to watch.

Teachers lash out on students verbally.

A teenaged girl is a prostitute and she is shown doing her "work" graphically. In one scene, she is shown performing oral sex on an old man and gets slapped in the face afterwords. A man takes her into his home and she implies that somebody has raped her. Later on, social workers take her away and she screams and cries. Very emotional.
