Sarah is puzzled by two women factions' rivalry extending to fund-raising fro the same charity and seeks a middle-way with Devon. Nick considers resigning, so he inquires about a Florida job. - When a neighbor is murdered inside The Gates at the hand of a vampire, Nick enlists Dylan's help to find the killer. Sarah organizes a school fundraiser at Devon's Spa, but finds it difficult to bring bickering factions together. Claire attempts to end her "arrangement" with Christian, only to find him more entrenched in her life than ever. Frustrated by the side effects, Andie stops taking her medicine and tries to control her symptoms, resulting in dire consequences for those around her.—ABC Publicity
- Nick goes into a crime scene in a dress store. He finds a woman on the floor with bite marks in her neck.
Claire and Dylan come home after a night out. They're about to get down to business, when there's a knock at the door. Nick comes to tell Dylan that Barbara Jansen is dead - she was killed by a vampire.
Nick shows Dylan the body. The ME is going to report the bite as "ritualistic fetishism" for now. Dylan examines her body and confirms it was a vampire murder, but not a killing - there's too much blood left. Nick asks how many more of them there are. Dylan won't give details.
Dylan tells him about the "do not hunt inside the Gates" rule. Dylan wants to deal with it.
Claire anxiously leaves a message for Christian.
Nick decides to call Lt. Evelyn Williams with the Miami-Dade PD to see if there might be a job available. Nick calls Eddie in with an assignment. He hands him a camera.
Andie's condition has gotten worse, the doctor tells her. She gives her pills so she won't find a "life force to replenish" herself. Apparently, there IS a pill for that.
Nick puts on his gold crucifix, just to be safe. He pays a visit to Gloria Bennett, who co-owned the dress shop with Barbara.
She says Barbara stayed late to go over invoices.
Sarah hosts the fundraiser committee meeting with some women who think Barbara would love being the subject of gossip. Karen explains that they host competing charity events with Claire and her girls. They want Sarah to come up with a plan.
Nick visits Barbara's ex-husband, Alex Dupree. He says their divorce was completely amicable and he was home alone last night. He calls her a "free spirit" who spent a lot of time at the Red Door in town.
Claire goes to see Christian. She thinks he killed Barbara, but he reminds her she told him to leave Barbara alone, so he did. She tells him they can't see each other anymore. He's not pleased.
Sarah has tea with Devon who suggests they do charity mani-pedis.
Nick pulls Dylan over. He has a list of names from the Red Door of guys Barbara dated or hung out with. Christian is one of them, but Dylan says he doesn't recognize him. He politely warns Nick that his people are looking into the murder, too.
Charlie invites andie over to study. Just studying. She looks at her pills but apparently doesn't take them.
Dylan goes to visit Christian, the first time they've seen each other in seven years. He tells Christian that he's on a suspect list. Christian says everyone knows it'd be stupid to kill inside the Gates. Dylan tells Christian he should have stayed in touch, calling him his oldest friend.
Nick looks at Red Door security footage. He sees Barbara getting into her car and being followed by a black sedan. He searches for the car type and gets a list of names.
Christian wanders into Claire's kitchen. She's about to yell at him when Dylan follows him in and Christian explains he was invited. Claire tries to act excited.
Andie goes back to the doctor. She knows Andie hasn't been taking the pills. She says her mom and dad didn't use any medication and they were fine. The doctor tells Andie she doesn't have all the information, but she leaves.
Christian tells Dylan about the latest woman he's been chasing, agreeing with Dylan that true love is worth fighting for. Dylan takes Emily up to bed and Claire tells Christian again that she never wants to see him again. She struggles to remain composed, and notices her fangs are out and she's bleeding.
Eddie reports back to Nick with his surveillance photos of Dylan and the people (vampires?) he met with. Nick sees one of him talking to Gloria.
At the dueling fundraisers, Devon shows off her new facial mask technique, which takes "years off." Karen worries that she's going to want something in return, but Sarah tells her they're making a fortune. Karen cattily offers Claire a facial.
Nick visits Gloria, saying she wasn't honest about what she is. He means vampire, but she means lesbian. She admits she and Barbara were lovers but broke up. Nick sees her crying bloody tears and shuts the drapes. She realizes he knows.
She denies she killed Barbara, but says she went back to the shop that night and found Barbara lying there and signs of a struggle. She tried to save Barbara by turning her, so she bit her, but it was too late.
Nick wants to take her in but she says no. He draws his gun and she says the others will kill her if he does. She turns and walks into another room, then he hears a crash and a scream. He follows and sees the door busted in and Gloria gone.
Nick calls Dylan, furious and assuming that Dylan had something to do with Gloria going missing. He says if they think Gloria killed Barbara, they'll kill her. Nick says she was just trying to turn her and he needs more time. Dylan says he'll try to stall them.
Andie studies Charlotte Bronte with Charlie and tries to fight off hormones and those pesky succubus urges. Then she caves and they start making out. He passes out.
Nick studies the list of black sedan owners. Eddie tells him Mrs. Davidson called again about her car getting side swiped Wednesday night, on Main street. He remembers what Alex Dupree said about his car getting detailed.
Andie revives Charlie and tries to figure out how to tell him she nearly sucked the life force out of him. She leaves instead.
Nick visits Dupree again. He called his body shop, he had a dent and green paint on his fender - the color of Mrs. Davidson's car.
Nick asks if he planned on killing Barbara. He says he went there to get her back. She walked away and he grabbed her arm, her heel broke, she fell and hit her head on a display case and died. He says it was just a stupid accident. Nick arrests him.
Nick calls Dylan telling him he found Barbara's killer and checking to make sure Gloria's OK.
Cut to the end of the fundraiser and Sarah totally stoked they made $20,000-plus on facials. She gives all credit to Devon. Then Devon starts getting ugly to Frank and Vanessa about all the money Frank's infidelity earned her.
Claire calls her pathetic. When everyone else leaves, Sarah asks Devon what happened. She tells her about being out to dinner one night and noticing something was wrong and the maitre'd finally telling her. She says the whole town knew, except her. She found out on their tenth anniversary. But she says she'll be fine.
Dylan brings Gloria in to see Nick. She thanks him for saving her life. Dylan says they'll work it out so she can stay. Dylan says Nick gained his people's trust with how he handled things. Nick asks what happens if they find out about Dylan killing Theresa. He says there's only one punishment for that.
They shake hands, Dylan leaves.
Nick listens to his message from Evelyn in Miami. She thinks they might have something for him.
At home, Andie ignores a call from Charlie and takes her pills.
Devon takes out the facial mask she was using that day and writes something down on a ye olde time ledger. She hangs the mask up next to shriveled ones like it and repeats that she'll be just fine.
Nick visits Frank, telling him he neglected to mention the vampires when he hired him. Frank asks him where he's going to go. He knows about Miami, part of his secret gathering. He says he couldn't protect Nick's family any more if they moved out of the Gates.
There's a ring at the door. It's Dylan. Frank has something for them to see. He plays the video of Dylan killing Theresa for Nick. "You see gentlemen, everyone has secrets that need protecting," he says.
