The movie gives an external treatment of an internal conflict that is heightened by an event. The acting is excellent. The film is one that has to be experienced in each viewer's own frame of reference. The film challenges the viewer by exposing raw emotion without clearly defining every single detail. I think the viewer has to be open to the discomfort on the screen to get the full impact of the film. The use of black and white is also a nice device, as it seems metaphorical. The end of the film leaves the viewer wondering about the approach to life the main character has taken - but draws the viewer right back to him or herself.
