To protect Mackenzie Foy on the set, Bill Condon had set up a swear jar where any cast and crew members caught swearing or uttering profanities were fined on the spot. The amount collected from the jar was donated to St. Jude's Children Hospital.
Besides Mackenzie Foy, ten actresses portrayed the rapidly-growing Renesmee Cullen, as well as a CGI-animated baby.
The end credits are for the entire series, not just this installment.
The inscription inside the locket Bella gives to Renesmee, "Plus que ma propre vie", is French for "More than my own life".
Was filmed back to back with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 (2011). Filming began on November 1, 2010 and wrapped on April 15, 2011. Filming took place on location in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil as well as in Vancouver, Canada.
Both an animatronic baby and 3-week-old babies were used in the film. Kristen Stewart preferred working with the real babies because she felt they helped her give a better performance.
The only movie in the series to have a complete opening credit sequence.
The scene screened for fans at Target stores during the release parties for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 (2011) was a 2 minute clip featuring Bella and Edward in their cottage after Alice and Jasper go into hiding.
Mackenzie Foy learned of her casting while filming Hawaii Five-0: Ho'apono (2010).
On February 10, 2012 it was announced that the first trailer would be screened on March 23, 2012 before The Hunger Games (2012). Lionsgate will include the trailer on every print of The Hunger Games released to theaters.
On January 16, 2012, Target stores announced they were to screen an unnamed scene as the first sneak peek of Part 2 at the DVD release parties for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 (2011) on February 11, 2012.


The trivia items below may give away important plot points.

Dakota Fanning has only one word in the movie. She just says "Pain".
The battle scene between the Cullens (and their witnesses) and the Volturi was written to give the movie a dramatic action sequence, and was not present in the book.
The film's final word is 'forever', which in the end credits is featured on the page of a book. This is also the final word in the novel itself.
WILHELM SCREAM: During the fight scene, after the ground cracks apart.
In the forged documents that Bella receives from J. Jenks, Jacob's last name is given as "Wolfe"- a clear play on his supernatural status.
