To protect Mackenzie Foy on the set, Bill Condon had set up a swear jar where any cast and crew members caught swearing or uttering profanities were fined on the spot. The amount collected from the jar was donated to St. Jude's Children Hospital.
Besides Mackenzie Foy, ten actresses portrayed the rapidly-growing Renesmee Cullen, as well as a CGI-animated baby.
During one of the battle scene takes, the Cullen side orchestrated a dance off, ending with the rest of the cast and crew free style dancing.
The inscription inside the locket Bella gives to Renesmee, "Plus que ma propre vie", is French for "More than my own life."
The end credits are for the entire series, not just this installment.
Both an animatronic baby and 3-week-old babies were used in the film. Kristen Stewart preferred working with the real babies because she felt they helped her give a better performance.
The film had a $120 million dollar budget, making it the most expensive Twilight installment.
Was filmed back to back with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 (2011). Filming began on November 1, 2010 and wrapped on April 15, 2011. Filming took place on location in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil as well as in Vancouver, Canada.

In the final scene where Bella is showing Edward that she can drop her shield and let him read her mind, they are sitting in the sun but they do not sparkle.
The scene screened for fans at Target stores during the release parties for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 (2011) was a 2 minute clip featuring Bella and Edward in their cottage after Alice and Jasper go into hiding.
Jackson Rathbone, who plays Jasper, and Rami Malek, who plays Benjamin, first worked together on the TV series 'The War at Home'. Rami plays Kenny, a series regular, and Jackson plays Dylan, Kenny's boyfriend.
Mackenzie Foy learned of her casting while filming Hawaii Five-0: Ho'apono (2010).
On February 10, 2012 it was announced that the first trailer would be screened on March 23, 2012 before The Hunger Games (2012). Lionsgate will include the trailer on every print of The Hunger Games released to theaters.
On January 16, 2012, Target stores announced they were to screen an unnamed scene as the first sneak peek of Part 2 at the DVD release parties for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 (2011) on February 11, 2012.
In the closing credits, Robert Pattinson ( Edward Cullen ), Taylor Lautner ( Jacob Black ) and Kristen Stewart ( Bella Swann ), have their character names shown on screen through the means of fading pages from the book Twilight.
Every song that appears in the film and on the soundtrack is original and written specifically for the film.

Rami Malek and Noel Fisher previously worked together in the HBO miniseries The Pacific.
The only Twilight film to have its Summit Entertainment logos contain the byline "A Lionsgate Company" as Lionsgate bought Summit Entertainment in January 2012 and started releasing their films then on.

The trivia items below may give away important plot points.

Dakota Fanning has only one word in the movie. She just says "Pain."
The film's final word is 'forever', which in the end credits is featured on the page of a book. This is also the final word in the novel itself.
In the forged documents that Bella receives from J. Jenks, Jacob's last name is given as "Wolfe"- a clear play on his supernatural status.

Alice Cullen's (Ashley Greene) note for everyone on the back of a page she tore from The Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare: "Gather as many witnesses as you can before the snow sticks to the ground. That's when they'll come." The subsequent note she left for Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) alone in the book the page was torn from: "J. Jenks, Seattle - destroy this.", after which, she immediately burnt the book in the fireplace next to the bookshelf.
