- Audrey and Nathan investigate an upheaval at the local psychiatric hospital - where something happened to make the patients normal for a time, but sent their doctor into madness. As they track down the escaped patients, Audrey and Nathan discover that whatever caused the temporary reversal has begun to spill across all of Haven - making normal townspeople go dangerously insane.—SyFy Publicity
- Agent Parker and Det. Nathan Woornos answer a call at the local psychiatric facility where several members of the staff seem to have gone berserk. All of the patients have wandered off, but when they catch up to them, they seem to have miraculously recovered from their illnesses. Their recovery doesn't last long however and the facility's medical director, Dr. Lucassi, is also back to normal after his own bout of temporary insanity. As the insanity spreads through the town, Audrey thinks she knows the common denominator, but she hasn't quite got it right. - "Haven" - "Harmony" - July 23, 2010
It's another nutty day in Haven as things go haywire at a mental hospital.
The day starts with us getting a look at the patients. The fidgety girl at the piano Lily. Two catatonics, Mr. Sperry and William, who stare into space. A man chats with the girl at the piano saying he's getting the boat ready and maybe when she's better they can go out. Two hospital workers move about chatting with patients. A crash from the other room reveals that the head doctor, Dr. LaCasey has dropped the day's meds and for some reason gone crazy. When a worker tries to approach him he throws him into a wall.
Elsewhere Nathan and Audrey walk and talk about the quirky cases of small town cops. She reminds him that she's on loan, but he thinks she'll stay because of the potential to find out about her mother. They get the call about the mental hospital and head over. When they arrive LaCasey is going wild and has trashed the place and the patients are roaming freely on the ground. (Guess he didn't get that whole "first, do no harm" memo).
They try to talk with him but he's too enraged so they throw ether bottles in the room and incapacitate him. One female worker says he's normally a nice guy. There worried that if the spilled meds did this to him what it could do to the patients, especially since three of them are on the loose: Lily, Mr. Sperry, and William.
Nathan and Audrey locate the two men playing on trampoline in someone's back yard. Both men seem totally normal.
Lily, who also seems normal, has gone home to her hubby Ray. She gently pokes fun at him and he can't believe she's so normal, they kiss and hug and he seems relieved
Nathan and Audrey return the two men to the hospital. Mr. Sperry was a florist and he looks at Audrey and says he remembers gerber daisies, snapdragons, and orchids and then he starts to wobble as does William, who is also foaming at the mouth. It turns out that whatever they were under the spell of is wearing off. The same is true for the Dr. LaCasey who is strapped to a nearby gurney. They let him up to tend to his patients. He tells them both men are stage 3 catatonics, Mr. Sperry hasn't moved or spoken for 16 years. LaCasey says he can't imagine the drug spill having such miraculous effects. He says they need to find Lily though as she can be extremely violent. She was a musician and now has a grand mal obsessive disorder.
They go to her house where Ray is just returning from a grocery run. Inside the place is trashed, it wore off for her too and she's gone. They figure she has gone someplace with a piano.
Nathan and Ray set off to find her while Audrey and Dr. LaCasey go back to the hospital to recreate the med spill to see if it was the culprit.
On their way to the Shiny Scupper Ray explains that Lily loves writing music and was offered a contract by a music exec. She wanted it to be perfect so they went to her favorite composing place. They were so excited he drove off the road into the Penobscot River. He barely made it out alive and it took him 8 minutes to get her out which is how she acquired her problem so he blames himself.
Back at the hospital LaCasey says he's dedicated to finding a way to cure Alzheimer's and these meds are part of it. He lays them out as if to drop them again and asks Audrey to get him something in another room. When she does he locks the door behind her and goes all mad scientist on her saying he's going to test them out and it's the scientific method and that calculated risk is critical to great discoveries. He drops the meds on floor but nothing happens. He wonders what's different.. Audrey notices a security camera in the room with her.
Outside the Scupper Duke emerges with big wall-mounting type fish. Nathan harasses him. Duke taunts him about taunting him. Nathan calls him low-life criminal. Duke asks about Audrey and if she knows that Nathan isn't a "real boy" and about the "things" he's done. Nathan leaves it alone.
Lily is inside the Shiny Scupper playing on the piano.
At the PD Audrey and the doctor look at the security footage of when he originally dropped the meds. They realize whatever happened, happened before the spill and it was invisible like gas or something. Nathan calls and gets the scoop. Lily is loony again, she plays a short melody on the piano
As LaCasey and Audrey arrive outside the Scupper. They wonder how it's spreading. Inside Nathan has gone nutty himself. He lights his arm on fire. His eyes are crazy. He storms out.
Everyone is rounded up but Nathan. The common denominator is Lily according to LaCasey.
Nathan has gone down to the marina to harass Duke some more, smashing his stuff and punching him. Audrey tases him (bro) and Duke is freaked. Audrey tells Duke to keep him there while they figure it out. He reluctantly agrees.
Audrey calls LaCasey and confirms she was playing the piano,
Duke ties up Nathan in chains. He works against them like a crazy person. They yell at each other. Duke punches him in the mouth but of course Nathan feels nothing
Its determined that Ray and Lily are hiding out on Ray's boat.
Nathan comes too and tells Audrey he's not sure what's worse, going crazy or being sane after. They discuss the piano at the Scupper and Nathan says it was Ray who was playing not Lily before everything went haywire.
On the boat Lily questions what Ray is doing - playing the music to keep her sane but hurting other people in the process. He says they will take off and stop hurting people.
Back at Duke's, he says he knows where the boat is but he wants to come too because he wants to know what's going on in this crazy town.
Back on Ray's boat, Lily is loony again. Ray says he'll get her out of it in a jif. He grabs a guitar and plays the tune. It's great for Lily but not so good for LaCasey who is nearby and hears it and goes crazy. He hops on Ray's boat just as Nathan and Audrey approach and hear a scream.
Lily runs around and they stop her. She says LaCasey overpowered Ray and threw him in the car.
They head back to the mental hospital where a crazed LaCasey is about to operate on Ray he says he needs his brain since it's clearly special. Audrey shocks him with a defibrillator to incapacitate him.
Lily helps Ray up from the operating table and tells him she's changing back. He says he needs an instrument. Lily says they can't risk it and makes him promise he won't do it again. She starts to sing to him and then goes nutty again. Ray is anguished.
Audrey figures a small boat is a safe place for Ray to sing his song to keep Lily grounded and basically gets everbody's okay to sneak her out of the hospital. They bring William and Mr. Sperry too. They load up on supplies and prepare to set sail Ray says they will stay at sea and when it's safe come back to shore to resupply. Mr. Sperry apologizes to Audrey for gaping at her earlier it's just that she's the spitting image of someone he sold flowers to years ago. He says he remembers flowers not names. As they start to sail off she presses him, what was her name? He remembers it was Lucy and he did meet her around the time the troubles were around last time. They motor off.
Audrey goes to thank Duke, who wants to be sure his cover as a good citizen is safe. He asks if the troubles are back. She says she thinks so.
Audrey tells Nathan about the name Lucy. He says it's a start. She admits that the weird stuff going on in Haven turns her on. He says she wants to fix things and maybe she'll fix him someday. She says no one can fix him. They get a call that there are more shenanigans at the mental hospital and they're off again.
