Morgan Freeman says, "These bars give a man time to think." He says the same line in The Shawshank Redemption (1994).
When the Four Horseman are flying to New Orleans to perform the second act Arthur Tressler (Caine) offers himself as a voluntaire to be mind-readed and Daniel Atlas (Eisenberg) says "even better" , which its also Leo DiCaprio's line in Catch Me if You Can when something goes just as planned
When the Four Horsemen get arrested, Merrit McKinley (Woody Harrelson) says there's no shame for a man to wear a dress. In Anger Management (2003), Woody Harrelson was a drag queen (a man dressed as a woman).
SPOILER: In both films, an aggressive character named Rhodes conceals his true nature, which contributes to a plot-twist near the end
Morgan Freeman plays "God" in both Bruce Almighty (2003) and Evan Almighty (2007). In Now You See Me (2013), he plays Thaddeus Bradley. In one scene he performs a magic trick for Alma Dray (Mélanie Laurent), where he "turns water into wine", prompting the following conversation. Dylan Rhodes (Mark Ruffalo): "Wow, that's incredible, that's amazing!" Thaddeus Bradley: "Red dye in the palm." Dylan Rhodes: "Is that how Jesus did it? That's incredible!"
When Thaddeus is telling Dylan how the tricks in the first magic show were done, there is a flashback, showing Étienne Forcier, the account holder at the Crédit Republicain de Paris, walking down the stairs in Paris. Some graffiti is visible promoting _Taken (2008)_, the movie starring Liam Neeson, which was based in Paris.
During the 4 Horsemens first show, Thaddeus (Morgan Freeman) is told by an Asian usher to give up his recording device, and then starts using a second one. A nod to the trick Lucius Fox, played by the same actor, uses when visiting Lau in Hong Kong
In the scene before J. Daniel Atlas and Merritt McKinney enter the secret room, McKinney tells Atlas that he is a "bit of a control freak," to which Atlas replies, "Have we met before?" This is a nod to the previous film Harrelson and Eisenberg had starred in, Zombieland (2009).
