Michael Caine Rediscovers Youth In New Trailer

26 August 2015 5:02 PM, PDT | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

Michael Caine's upcoming slate includes Vin Diesel's The Last Witch Hunter and the sequel to Now You See Me, but while he's keeping busy in elder-statesman roles, it looked as if 2009's Harry Brown was his final film as the lead. Happily that turned out not to be the case, since he couldn't resist Paolo Sorrentino's Youth. You can get a taste of the results in this just-released new trailer."I've retired about 30 times," Caine told Empire recently. "I always retire and then someone comes along with an offer you can't refuse. I wasn't going to play any more leading roles. I don't like it because you've got to get up early in the morning for eight weeks. But I just had to do Youth. It was wonderful." Sorrentino (This Must Be The Place, The Great Beauty) wrote and directed the film, which involves Caine's retired orchestra »

Henry Cavill on whether Lois Lane or Wonder Woman is a better fit for Superman

24 August 2015 1:56 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Lois Lane could find some competition for Clark Kent’s affections in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in the form of Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince, a.k.a. Wonder Woman, and Heny Cavill has offered a rather diplomatic response when asked by Cosmopolitan whether the intrepid Daily Planet reporter or the Amazon Princess is a better fit for the Man of Steel.

“This is a very long discussion because there are a lot of questions to be asked and answered,” states Cavill. “I mean who is better for a super-powered alien, a human or a goddess? Yes, the goddess can do all the normal things, which we would think are normal in a relationship, and not have any fear of Superman. But you also need to have that baseline of humanity, which Lois provides. And literally keeps his feet on the ground, keeps him down to earth. So »

'Sinister 2' poster. 'American Ultra,' 'Hitman: Agent 47' and 'Sinister 2': Weekend box office bombs American Ultra, Hitman: Agent 47, and Sinister 2 are the new entries at the North American box office this weekend, Aug. 21-23, '15. All three of them are expected to underperform – with American Ultra having a particularly disastrous bow, especially for a movie starring Best Actor Oscar nominee Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network) and former Twilight star Kristen Stewart. Whether you blame it on a glut of movies targeting the same audience, a lack of major box office draws, or poor reviews, only one of the debutantes is expected to score more than $10 million at U.S. and Canadian theaters by Sunday evening. Warner Bros. CEO on the decision to push Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice back to 2016

20 August 2015 1:22 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

When Warner Bros. first announced Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice at the San Diego Comic-Con in 2015, the DC superhero ensemble was originally set to arrive on July 17th 2015. However, the film was pushed back to May 6th, 2016, which put it head-to-head with Marvel’s then-unannounced Captain America: Civil War, before WB decided to shift the date again to March 25th 2016.

By the time the film rolls around, it will have been close to three years since the previous instalment Man of Steel, and now Warner CEO Kevin Tsujihara has offered up a few words on the studio’s decision to shuffle around the release date.

General Zod will have “flippers instead of hands” in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

19 August 2015 11:45 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Although Michael Shannon’s Man of Steel villain General Zod is confirmed to be making an appearance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, his exact role in the film has largely been kept a secret. While we may not know how Zod fits into the plot (spoilers), especially considering that he died in Man of Steel, actor Michael Shannon did reveal some information about his character’s strange new look in a recent interview with Vulture.

While telling an anecdote about how he got stuck in a porta-potty during the shoot, Shannon said, “I was in my costume, and I couldn’t use my fingers because in the sequel I have flippers instead of hands. So I had these wax flippers on my fingers, and I couldn’t open the door, and I could hear Zack [Snyder, the director] being like, ‘Where’s Shannon?'”

Michael Wilkinson on designing the costumes for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

19 August 2015 8:55 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Following his work on Man of Steel, costume designer Michael Wilkinson then tasked with creating the look for The Dark Knight and the Amazon Princess (not to mention Aquaman) for the upcoming DC epic Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice from director Zack Snyder. Now, during an interview with Peoples Choice, Wilkinson has offered some insight into his work on the hotly-anticipated blockbuster.

“We tweaked the Superman suit only slightly from our suit from Man of Steel,” states Wilkinson. “We streamlined plus sharpened the details of the costume a little to suit the more earthly (less alien) context of this film. The batsuit is a complete 180 degree turn from the previous film incarnations — our Batman’s power comes from his incredible physical strength and fighting skills, not from armor. The director Zack Snyder wanted him to look as much like the comic book version as possible — to be respectful to the original source. »

A much-anticipated reveal during the summer finale of ABC Family’s “Pretty Little Liars” has lifted the young-adult drama to its top young-adult ratings in nearly two years.

Tuesday’s episode, in which the liars finally learn the identity of “A,” averaged a 1.4 rating in adults 18-49 and 3.087 million viewers overall, according to Nielsen “live plus same-day ratings” — up week to week by a mammoth 65% in the demo (from 0.84 rating) and 52% in total viewers (from 2.031 million).

Henry Cavill talks Warner Bros’ plans for the DC Cinematic Universe, “They’re not thinking from movie to movie”

The DC Cinematic Universe has faced an uphill battle against critics, who have either compared them to Marvel or have claimed they ‘don’t know what they’re doing’. But someone who reckons the studio has their finger on the pulse is Superman himself, Henry Cavill.

“There’s a big plan in place at WB for the whole DC franchise,” the actor told Uproxx while promoting The Man From U.N.C.L.E. “So, all of this stuff ties in. They’re not thinking from movie to movie, they’re thinking from a big tent pole type thing and each story has its own story, which is attached to the major issue. Yeah, there’s a big plan.”

Rumour: Wonder Woman fights Doomsday in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Warning: possible spoilers below…

Another rumour has come from the world of Heroic Hollywood this evening as the former El Mayimbe is reporting that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will feature a one-on-one showdown between Wonder Woman and Doomsday.

“During the fight with Doomsday, Wonder Woman draws that awesome sword of hers, swings it at Doomsday and manages to chop off the hand of the beast! Kind of reminds me when I was a kid and saw Perseus cut off Calibos’ hand in Clash of The Titans. Wonder Woman is badass and got skills but don’t count Doomsday out! He is still in the fight! Complications ensue because a Bone Blade grows back where Doomsday’s hand used to be! In screenwriting that’s called a reversal. Now Doomsday got a blade of his own. What happens next? Find out when Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice drops in theaters”
