Nothing special ...just "OK"
JJ-Chi19 March 2021
A gay adaptation of "Romeo & Juliet." It's OK ...and it's short, so you don't feel as if you wasted a lot of time after watching it. Having recently watched "Romeu & Romeu" (which was MUCH better) ...I can only give this an "average" rating.

Not memorable

A sport fraternity version of Romeo & Juliet, but with gay men. The storyline could of been more convincing with the acting and script. Hopefully, there is a better version created.

Handsome Shannon Kook-Chun stars in a beautiful movie
kmenon8229 September 2010
Verona is a modern adaptation of a famous play by Shakespeare. The handsome and hunky Shannon Kook-Chun who is best known for his outstanding work in Degrassi: The Next Generation is given outstanding material to be lead star of a major motion picture and he lives up to all the excitement about him. He is ready to become a top Hollywood star for sure. Shannon's performance made me think of the famous movie Shelter. His acting is exquisite and his romantic scenes are emotional and riveting. I would definitely view the short if it plays in a theater near you. If it is not in a theater near you, I would definitely go to your favorite one and demand that they book the short. Then, plan on dreaming about the full length motion picture soon to be released! TWO THUMBS UP!

unconvincing

"Romeo and Juliet"has many adaptations. "Verona" is one of them. not the worst. only unconvincing. because the performance of John Bregar is blank and the sensuality of Shannon Kook works but could not be the axis of a story who seems start with ambitious premises for become a sketch abandoned. sure, it is nice. but confusing. it is seductive in few scenes. but the end seems be just an improvisation . and this does "Verona" example of good intentions. but nothing more.

An absolute embarrassment Warning: Spoilers
"Verona" is a Canadian 26-minute live action short film from 6 years ago. And I am sure if William Shakespeare head seen this adaptation of his famous "Romeo & Juliet" work, he would have turned in his grave. Yes it is that bad, that embarrassing. Basically all aspects of this one here are not worth anything beyond high school state level, the acting, the script and the direction. It is so obvious that the people who made this movie were desperate to create something extraordinary, so their ambition may be the only thing somewhat positive here, but it is also negative at the same time as great ambition comes with great responsibility. And nobody from cast and crew has the talent or ability to create something of great quality. well, at least they did not back in 2010, I really hope they have stepped up their game by now, not that this would be any difficult at all. There is another review that gave this one here 10 stars out of 10 and he talks about his crush on one of the actors, which says it all basically. Do not take this review seriously, here we have a piece of garbage. I highly recommend not to check it out, especially Shakespeare lovers will get nightmares if they don't follow my advice. The way they combined old stories with modern ideas was clumsy and that is still a very gentle term for what it really was.
