The Kids of National Lampoon's 'Vacation' Films -- Where Are They Now?!

28 July 2015 9:00 AM, PDT | TooFab | See recent TooFab news »

It's hard to believe it's been more than 20 years since we first met the Griswolds in National Lampoon's "Vacation." The 1983 original followed Chevy Chase as Clark Griswold, an overly enthusiastic dad who just wants to have a fun family trip to Wally World, a California amusement park. Unfortunately, it all goes to hell as they encounter a series of misadventures along the journey. The film sparked a number of sequels, including "European Vacation," "Christmas Vacation" and "Vegas Vacation." Fast forward to 2015, as the latest installment in the hilarious franchise, "Vacation," his theaters today. The new film focuses on a fully-grown (and once again recast) Rusty Griswold, as he takes his own family on a disastrous getaway. Ed Helms is taking over the lead role, Christina Applegate plays his wife and Leslie Mann fills the role of sister Audrey.  Before we welcome the Griswolds back to the big screen, we're taking »

'Stanford Prison Experiment' director still hasn't heard from the original subjects yet

18 July 2015 2:19 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

You'll be kicking yourself if you don't see "The Stanford Prison Experiment" in theaters.  Seriously.  And, no, I'm not just saying that because I happen to know director Kyle Patrick Alvarez socially or that it's a Sundance Jury Award-winning movie or that it depicts one of the most shocking events to occur at one of America's greatest Universities over the past fifty years.* The real reason is that besides the questions it raises about the human condition and our ability to descend to abject cruelty, "Stanford" features a once in a life time cast that will dominate Hollywood for the next 15 to 20 years.* *It also has earned strong reviews to date including a 71 grade on Metacritic and 78% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. Based on true events, the new drama chronicles the 1971 psychological experiment that found Stanford University students sorted into the roles of prison guard or a generic prisoner.  In theory, »

Indie Spotlight: “The Incredible Life Of Darrell” Delivers Deadpan Laughs

3 April 2015 11:50 AM, PDT | Tubefilter.com | See recent Tubefilter News news »

Many web series claim to offer awkward moments from the lives of their protagonists. This week's featured indie series takes that formula one step further: The protagonist is himself a walking, talking awkward moment. The Incredible Life of Darrell is set in Wakooki, a fictional Arizona town. Darrell and his friends all grew up together, and that plot point drives a lot of the comedy. In the debut, for example, Darrell has a "Date Night" with his longtime crush (played by Tru Collins of MTV's Awkward), an event that mostly consists of a stilted conversation on the couch.

The decision to introduce characters who have known each other since childhood complements the fact that they are all varying types of grown-up kids. The second episode centers around a »

‘Kevin From Work’ Gets Series Order as ABC Family Expands Comedy Slate

24 March 2015 11:30 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

ABC Family has ordered workplace comedy “Kevin From Work” to series, set to premiere this summer. The pickup is a step in the cabler’s expansion into more original scripted comedy.

Kevin From Work” follows Kevin (played by Noah Reid, pictured with Paige Spara), a young man who professes his love to a co-worker Audrey (Spara) in a letter, before accepting another job overseas, thinking he’ll never see her again. When the new offer is rescinded, Kevin has to continue working with Audrey, despite her knowing his true feelings.

“Single camera represents the evolution of our comedy brand,“ Karey Burke, exec VP of programming and development at ABC Family, commented Tuesday. “‘Kevin From Work’ is an endearingly awkward love story — this time from the guy’s point of view.”

The half-hour laffer comes from Barbie Adler (“How I Met Your Mother”), who penned the pilot and will serve as writer on the series. »
