Casey Affleck to Star in Debra Granik’s Adventure Drama ‘My Abandonment’

Casey Affleck is set to topline Debra Granik’s film adaptation of the 2009 novel by Peter RockMy Abandonment,” according to The Tracking Board.

Inspired by a true story, the film will center around Caroline, a thirteen-year-old girl and her father who live in Forest Park, an enormous nature preserve in Portland, Oregon. Living in the an elaborate cave shelter, they bathe in a nearby creek, store perishables at the water’s edge, use a makeshift septic system, tend a garden, even keep a library of sorts. Once a week they go buy groceries and blend in with the civilized world. Their whole world turns upside down when a jogger discovers where they live and Caroline is torn between her loyalty to her father and the possibility of a new and normal life. 

Granik will direct and co-write the script with Anne Rosellini. Rossellini is producing with Linda Reisman and Anne Harrison of ReVision Films. »

‘Hollywood Game Night’ Producer Mission Control Hires Nicholas Oakley-Tilley to Head Development

Unscripted production company Mission Control Media has hired Nicholas Oakley-Tilley as senior vice president of development. Reporting to Mission Control co-presidents Michael Agbabian and Dwight D. Smith, Oakley-Tilley will will be responsible for overseeing and growing Mission Control’s development slate.

“Nick brings a unique talent for both finding and creating fresh, inspired material along with a determination that is infectious,” said Agbabian. “We are excited to have him join our team and can’t wait to sell some amazing shows together.”

Oakley-Tilley most recently served as Hln’s head of West Coast development. He began his career at the BBC, with subsequent stops working in development at MTV, Mentorn and ITV Studios.

Yesterday marked the 32nd anniversary of the original Ghostbusters hitting theaters, with Sony releasing new videos that shed some light on their upcoming reboot, in celebration of "Ghostbusters Day." Last night, the celebration continued as the past and present came together on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live. Stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts, who all have cameos in the reboot, united with the new Ghostbusters cast Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. George A. Romero & Howard Sherman as Bub Photo Op Announced for Texas Frightmare Weekend 2016

Legendary director George A. Romero and Howard Sherman, the actor who played the beloved zombie Bub in Romero's Day of the Dead, will be taking part in a special photo op at this year's Texas Frightmare Weekend, with Sherman wearing the iconic Bub makeup one final time.

Making the photo op even more special, special makeup effects guru Tom Savini, who originally created the look for Bub, will be on hand to supervise Face Off 2016 champion Nora Hewitt as she transforms Sherman into his zombified alter ego.

The special photo op with Romero and Sherman, fittingly dubbed "Bub & His Creator", will take place on Saturday, April 30th, and is priced at $140.00 for a photo and $200.00 for a photo autographed by both Romero and Sherman.
