Eric Fox Faces Off with the Evil Breakfast Dead Club

13 August 2014 9:00 AM, PDT | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

Arizona-based production company Infinite Spectrum Productions has announced that Eric Fox of Syfy's "Face Off" Season 4 fame is joining the creative team of Evil Breakfast Dead Club as the Special Makeup Effects Supervisor.

"When I read the script, I knew it was going to be some good old fashioned fun," said Fox when interviewed. "I'm looking forward to bringing my A-game."

Fox is a great addition to the team that will bring to life a script that, this week, Craig Cheney, author of Blood Spatter: A Guide to Cinematic, Zombie, Violence, Gore and Special Effects, summed up this way: “There are many things that go together, peanut butter and jelly, gin and tonic, Captain and Tennille, The Breakfast Club and The Evil Dead.”

Kevin R. Phipps directs from a script by Jon Bonnell. Jason Bonnell and Jon Bonnell produce.

Look for more on this one soon!

Syfy’s Wizard Wars Is Your New Favorite Reality Competition

7 August 2014 7:37 AM, PDT | AreYouScreening.com | See recent AreYouScreening news »

Let’s face it, reality competition shows are getting a little old. You’ve seen all the cooking, sewing, and voting off you can stand. Syfy is trying to change that attitude with shows like Face Off, Jim Henson’s Creature Shop Challenge, and now, Wizard Wars.

How about if we put magicians to the reality challenge test? But, what could that mean? How do you put magicians through the paces of a reality competition show? Well, according to Wizard Wars, you give them a random assortment of everyday items, and make them impress Penn & Teller.

Yeah. That sounds about right.

Be sure to set your DVR so you don’t miss this one. It’s hitting August 19th, and it looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun.

New Info on Clive Barker's Nightbreed TV Series

4 July 2014 9:30 AM, PDT | GeekTyrant | See recent GeekTyrant news »

A couple of years ago it was announced that Clive Barker was developing a TV series with Morgan Creek based on his 1990 horror film Nightbreed. We haven't heard anything about it since he first talked about it, saying:

"The sensitivity of our culture has sort of caught up with Nightbreed. I don't wish to be immodest, but the general sense is that the movie failed because people didn't want to associate with the monster, and I think our culture has changed—I think our culture is now ready to embrace the ambiguity."

Apparently, the production company is once again taking steps to develop the movie into a series. An extended cut of the film is set to be released on Blu-ray soon, and while promoting it, Michael Plumides of Morgan Creek gave an update in an interview with Empire.

However, not all fans may be aware of a TV series that has been in development and we’ve received an update from Michael Plumides on the current status of the Nightbreed TV series:

“We’ve been actively developing the Nightbreed TV series at Morgan Creek with Clive Barker for two years. We hope the newly restored Director’s Cut will help us illustrate how wildly popular the series could be to potential buyers. I recently penned four episodes including the pilot, with material all approved by Clive and Mark Miller at Seraphim Films. We have also been developing new Nightbreed creature concepts and I’ve been collaborating with Tate Steinsiek (SyFy’s Face Off) for some months now, to »

Event Report: Wizard World Minneapolis

Set to visit 16 cities in 2014, Wizard World’s plethora of comic book booths, clothing vendors, and impressive line-up of celebrities are always enough to sate the appetite of any pop culture enthusiast, but prior to their visit to Minneapolis May 2nd–4th, I was wondering how much horror would be had in the aisles within the Convention Center’s cavernous confines.

As it turns out, Wizard World had more than enough entertainment for horror fans to dig into, and they picked the perfect horror headliner for Wizard World Minneapolis: Robert Englund, best known as Freddy Krueger, the living legend of our nightmares and realities.

One of my first destinations upon entering Wizard World Minneapolis was Robert Englund’s booth. I weaved my way through a crowd of eye-grabbing cosplayers—Hellboy, Darth Maul, and a perfectly matched Spider-Man and Black Cat couple were of particular notice—before stepping in line to »

Heather Morris will appear in the season finale of Glee, though they haven’t been able to convince her to agree to appear in the next season.

TV Land has ordered 12 episodes of Younger, a comedy from Darren Starr. The series follows a 40-something single mom who ends up leading a double-life, including one where she passes herself as a 26-year-old. The series has an amazing cast led by Sutton Foster with Hilary Duff, Debi Mazar and Miriam Shor. A fall debut is planned.

On a related note, here’s the trailer for the Rosemary’s Baby mini-series. I have to admit, the changes have me intrigued.

A&E has ordered a third season of Bates Motel. Good news for viewers, bad news for Norma Bates who just can’t catch a break.

At a press conference, Neil Patrick Harris responded to speculation about him taking over for David Letterman as Late Show host, “I’m super-focused on Hedwig at the moment, so that hasn’t even been a conversation at all.” He later added, “It would be an asinine amount of work.”

Meanwhile, as the speculation into the next Late Show host continues, TheWrap reports that CBS was talking with Chelsea Handler about hosting a syndicated talk show or taking over The Late Late Show when Letterman announced his retirement. Now, those talks have moved towards the Late Show spot.

Syfy has ordered 13 episodes of Olympus, a drama about a young man who grows to be someone capable of banishing the gods to Hades.
