Was "banned" from the 2013 kids choice awards.and from ever airing on Nickelodeon.
Was nickelodeon's attempt to appeal to a mature audience, in their defence they stated the film "was made for fans in the 90's who have grown up by now."
This film received controversy since its release. Due to the fact that this film was produced by Nickelodeon Movies, which is targeted for a family audience, many viewers, parents, and critics have criticized the film's adult humor, profanity, sexual content, and use of drugs and alcohol, which is not very usual for any Nickelodeon production.

A TV trailer for the film sparked some controversy, despite the family friendly approach the trailer showed a robotic chicken "humping" the lead character's car.
