50 Greatest Pop Videos
31 May 2010 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

There had already been The 100 Greatest Pop Videos countdown, but with eight years gone by since it was conducted, and so many new and inventive music videos to include it was time for a new one. It would have included many more good videos if it was another 100 list, but I suppose it doesn't matter, because instead of being voted just by us, the public, it was voted for by critics and experts of music videos as well. Presented by Girls Aloud's Kimberley Walsh, with contributions from Kevin Adams, Pussycat Dolls' Carmit Bachar, Alexandra Burke, Terry Christian, Chris Cowey, Craig David, Kevin Godley, Ellie Goulding, Jameela Jamil, Christian O'Connell, Sinéad O'Connor, Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim and Reggie Yates. Songs and their videos included in the list are "Two Tribes" - Frankie Goes To Hollywood, "Get Ur Freak On" - Missy Elliott, "Common People" - Pulp, "Nothing Compares 2 U" - Sinead O'Connor; "Knowing Me, Knowing You" - ABBA, "Addicted To Love" - Robert Palmer, "Ashes to Ashes" - David Bowie, "Unfinished Sympathy" - Massive Attack, "It's Oh So Quiet" - Björk, "Walk This Way" - Run DMC feat. Aerosmith, "Girls On Film" - Duran Duran, "Firestarter" - The Prodigy, "Hey Ya!" - OutKast, "Smells Like Teen Spirit" - Nirvana, "Hurt" - Johnny Cash, "Clint Eastwood" - Gorillaz, "Bitter Sweet Symphony" - The Verve, "The Scientist" - Coldplay, "Crazy In Love" - Beyoncé feat. Jay Z, "Bohemian Rhapsody" - Queen, "Praise You" - Fatboy Slim, "I Want To Break Free" - Queen, "Coffee & TV - Blur, "Can't Get You Out of My Head" - Kylie Minogue, "Wannabe" - Spice Girls, "Dirrty" - Christina Aguilera, "Stan" - Eminem feat. Dido, "Smack My Bitch Up" - The Prodigy, "Baby One More Time" - Britney Spears, "Scream" - Michael and Janet Jackson, "Like A Prayer" - Madonna, "Vogue" - Madonna, "Take On Me" - a-ha, "PokerFace" - Lady Gaga, "Weapon of Choice" - Fatboy Slim, "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" - Beyoncé, "Virtual Insanity" - Jamiroquai, "Rock DJ" - Robbie Williams, "Toxic" - Britney Spears, and deserved number one (same as the original 100 Greatest list), "Thriller" - Michael Jackson, which was played in full to end the programme. Very good!
