John Cusack To Attend The Numbers Station

27 October 2011 12:00 PM, PDT | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

I won’t lie, I have all the time in the world for John Cusack. The man who brought us Being John Malkovich, Con Air, Grosse Pointe Blank, Identity and High Fidelity seems to rarely put a foot wrong and as that list shows, frequently puts it very right. The trailer for The Raven looks absolutely stunning, but time and tide wait for no man and so his head turns to other projects.

Next up for Cusack looks like being The Numbers Station, which will see him play a black-ops agent, who having messed up finds himself in a seemingly dead-end job, watching Malin Akerman (Watchmen, The Heartbreak Kid)’s code operator at a CIA broadcast station. No doubt all will turn out to not be quite as it seems, the isolated station will be set upon and the seemingly lowly code operator will turn out to be caught up in something very serious indeed. »

Apparently Dr. Seuss won't be the only colorful character in Johnny Depp's upcoming biopic about the children's book author. Some of his beloved characters might be making an appearance in the film as well.

In an interview with Larry King, Depp said that the biographical movie will likely feature a combination of live action and animation.

"It's something we're developing with Seuss' widow, [Theodor] Geisel's widow," he said. "It's a very exciting possibility, because it's a combination of live-action and ... the characters will certainly have a role."

Forget Three -- John Cusack Is a Magic 'Number'

25 October 2011 7:45 AM, PDT | NextMovie | See recent NextMovie news »

Guys like Johnny Depp, Christian Bale and Robert Downey Jr. are awesome, but for our money, the most underrated superstar in Hollywood is John Cusack. For the past quarter century, all the guy has done is turn out one indelible performance after another, both in classics ("Say Anything") and in films that should have been complete crap but were actually pretty fun just because he was in it ("2012," anyone?).

But can even Cusack make math cool?

Well, we're about to find out, because according to Variety, Cusack has just signed on to star in the upcoming thriller "The Numbers Station" -- and with Cusack on board, we have a feeling the only number you'll need to know now is number one.

Before you start thinking this is some kind of esoteric art film about the search for Fermat's theorem or the existential angst surrounding a Lotto distributor, have no fear: It's actually a spy movie. »

John Cusack Replaces Ethan Hawke On Kasper Barfoed's 'The Numbers Station' With Malin Akerman

A bit of an acting substitution here for a gestating indie-flick with John Cusack now replacing original star/producer Ethan Hawke as the lead in Kasper Barfoed's upcoming action-thriller "The Numbers Station," which also stars Malin Akerman. Hawke joined the project last fall when it was gearing up for early 2011 shoot, but that didn't come to pass. But with Cusack now on board, things are beginning to movie again. It almost marks two consecutive projects now that Cusack has replaced a departing actor after he took on the role of Edgar Allan Poe in James McTeigue's "The Raven" when original… »

Cusack Arrives At The Numbers Station

25 October 2011 5:20 AM, PDT | www.themoviebit.com | See recent TheMovieBit news »

John Cusack has joined the cast of upcoming thriller The Numbers Station. The film, being directed by Kasper Barfoed and based on a script by F. Scott Frazier, has been in development for a number of years, with Ethan Hawke being touted to star and produce at one stage. However it would appear that Cusack has taken the lead role of a disgraced CIA agent, left with the deadend job of protecting a code expert in an isolated desert station. Watchmen's Malin Akerman is set to play aforementioned expert. While a number of his recent efforts haven't been great, it's always good to see Cusack on screen, and with this and the upcoming "The Raven" we'll be seeing plenty more of him. Via Variety

John Cusack Joins Malin Akerman In The Numbers Station

25 October 2011 12:29 AM, PDT | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

Back in April of 2010, it looked as though Ethan Hawke was going to be reteaming with Sean and Bryan Furst - the producers of the vampire flick Daybreakers - for the action thriller The Numbers Station. Since then news about the project has been slim, with the exception of news that broke in September of last year, announcing that Malin Akerman had joined the cast as well. Fast forward a year and while Akerman is attached, it looks like Hawke has been replaced. Variety is reporting that John Cusack has been cast to star in The Numbers Station. Directed by Danish filmmaker Kasper Barfoed (The Candidate) and written by F. Scott Frazier, the movie is about a "disgraced black-ops agent" who is reduced to playing bodyguard to a code operator for a secret CIA broadcast station. Cusack Figures Out The Numbers Station

24 October 2011 9:21 PM, PDT | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

Last year, it was announced that Watchmen’s Malin Akerman would be joining the cast of CIA thriller The Numbers Station. Things have been very quiet since, but now the film has scooped the services of John Cusack to co-star. The Candidate’s Kasper Barfoed is directing the film, which finds Cusack as a disgraced black-ops agent shuffled off to a dead-end assignment in the Nevada desert. His job? Protect a code breaker (Akerman) working at an isolated CIA broadcast station when she’s targeted by unknown assailants.Given that his name is nowhere near it now (and the slightly important fact that Cusack has taken over his role), it would appear that Ethan Hawke, who had been planning to produce and star, is no longer involved. Perhaps he got bored waiting for it all to come together. The rights to the movie are being sold at the American Film Market next month, »
