No, Dylan Minnette and Logan Lerman Are Not the Same Person

3 hours ago | Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news »

Image Source: Getty / Slaven Vlasic / Jason Merritt Dylan Minnette is one of many stars of Netflix's breakout hit 13 Reasons Why. He's been acting for over a decade, yet people are still confusing him with another young, good-looking white dude: Logan Lerman. Logan notably led the Percy Jackson films after winning out hearts in the short-lived series Jack & Bobby. You may know him as Charlie from The Perks of Being a Wallflower - a movie we actually suggest to fans of 13 Reasons Why - but he's certainly not the guy playing Clay Jensen. The two completely unrelated actors are actually four years apart; Dylan was born in 1996, and Logan is slightly older, with a 1992 birthday. Dylan has gotten so used to the comparison that he even tweeted about it on April 1, saying, "Alright, April Fools; I Am Logan Lerman." While we don't necessarily think they look like twins now, the resemblance »

Well, now the producer of the dark and violent reimagining of the “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers,” Adi Shankar, wants to make the film adaptation of the classic “Mega Man” video game franchise. “I’d love to do a hard-r ‘Mega Man,'” Shankar said in an interview with Wwg.

Batman v Superman concept art shows a more comic book accurate Doomsday

9 April 2017 1:20 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

While the final design for Doomsday in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice came in for a lot of criticism, it seems that a much more comic book accurate version of the villain was considered during pre-production, with illustrator Jerad S. Marantz sharing a piece of his concept artwork for the film, along with a look at one of the concept model designs. Take a look here (via Batman-News)…

What do you make of the concept art? Do you prefer it to the final design? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…

Stephen King: 5 Unadapted Stories That Would Make Excellent Movies

8 April 2017 1:31 PM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

After the wildly popular reception of the “It” trailer, author Stephen King tweeted a message on April 4 that made fans very hopeful for the adaptations slated to drop in 2017:

The Mist, Mr. Mercedes, 1922, Gerald’S Game, The Dark Tower, and It: Believe it or not, they all look awesome.

Stephen King (@StephenKing) April 4, 2017

King’s films and TV series have a tendency to be varied in terms of quality, but if that tweet is to be believed, there’s a definitely a renaissance afoot. Now that filmmakers seem to be able to hit the right tone from his work, here are five properties which have never been adapted that could make for successful endeavors, along with director and lead actor picks that would be pitch-perfect. To narrow down the picks, any novel or short story that is in some stage of acquisition, development, or that has been made already is ineligible. »

Exclusive: Director Richard Kelly and Jake Gyllenhaal on Why ‘Donnie Darko’ Still Resonates Today

6 April 2017 8:50 AM, PDT | Entertainment Tonight | See recent Entertainment Tonight news »

On Oct. 26, 2001, Donnie Darko, director Richard Kelly’s sci-fi film about a despondent teenager (Jake Gyllenhaal in his second major film role) who befriends a giant bunny named Frank (James Duval), was released in theaters. The film told a cryptic narrative of a high schooler who is sent on an existential journey after he escapes death from a falling jet engine and learns that the world has just over 28 days before it ends. In that time, Donnie fends off the torments of being a teen -- a testy older sister (Gyllenhaal’s real-life older sister, Maggie), concerned parents (Mary McDonnell and Holmes Osborne), overbearing teachers (Beth Grant), mild flirtations with a new female student (Jena Malone) -- while trying to figure out, in some ways, how to save the world.

“That was a movie that was more about the psychological journey of adolescence and the confusion of it all,” Gyllenhaal tells Et. And while it »

The world of online retail can be a bitch, but it takes one to know one. In Netflix’s new series “Girlboss,” one young woman is going to find out what it takes to go into e-commerce for herself.

Inspired by the best-selling book “#Girlboss” by Sophia Amoruso, the series tells her story of starting out by dipping her toes in the eBay pond by clothes-flipping her vintage finds at local thrift stores. The first scene in the trailer below riffs off of a real-life event in which Amoruso bought a vintage Chanel jacket for $8 and sold it for $1,000.

The Edge of Stardom: Hailee Steinfeld and the New Hollywood Kids on the Block

24 March 2017 5:00 AM, PDT | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Author: Matt Rodgers

It feels strange to herald Hailee Steinfeld as a fresh cinematic supernova, considering her Oscar nominated turn as True Grit’s Mattie Ross was as far back as 2010. Since then she has carved out a wonderful niche as a supporting actress, often stealing the films from under the nose of the likes of Anna Kendrick (Pitch Perfect 2), whilst also sustaining what the kids tell me is a pretty good pop career.

Last year she stepped up to leading lady status with The Edge of Seventeen. It’s the kind of film that should have found a bigger audience, threatening a re-think of most people’s top ten of the year lists. One of those coming-of-age parables that truly reflects what it was/is like to be young, and as the sardonic Nadine, Steinfeld runs the full gamut of emotions; comedic to sympathetic, and always utterly watchable. »

Jay Baruchel praises Batman v Superman as “the world’s most expensive indie film”

Actor and comedian Jay Baruchel is currently doing interviews to promote his upcoming sequel Goon: Last of the Enforcers, which is a project he directs and stars in.

During an interview with Joblo, Baruchel was put on the spot to discuss some recent films he has really enjoyed. In addition to mentioning Tom Ford’s noirish thriller Nocturnal Animals (which he described as “gorgeous and compelling”), he bravely brought up the critically destroyed Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Baruchel praised the blockbuster, saying: “I’ve watched it about seven times… even when I saw the theatrical one and didn’t love it. In its weakest moment, it has more choice, style and commitment to it than the best moment in Captain America: Civil War. I can’t tell you what it’s about or who made it. ‘Beauty and the Beast’: 5 Reasons the Disney Fantasy Scored at the Box Office

19 March 2017 1:58 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” scored with audiences, racking up a massive $170 million domestically to become the biggest March debut ever and the seventh-best opening in history. The fairy tale remake added an additional $180 million to its haul from international territories, raking in big bucks in major markets like China and the United Kingdom.

Once again, Disney has successfully updated a “tale as old as time” for a new generation of moviegoers while retaining the sense of wonder and magic that made the 1991 animated version of “Beauty and the Beast” a cultural touchstone for an older audience. It continues the studio’s successful collection of live-action remakes of cartoon favorites like “The Jungle Book” and “Cinderella” and helps propel star Emma Watson to the top of the A-list. Here are five reasons “Beauty and the Beast” smashed records.

As expected, Legendary Pictures’ Kong: Skull Island won the weekend, and honestly, the Weekend Warrior’s original prediction of $61.6 million was pretty darn close to the movie’s opening weekend which ended up at $61 million. Amon Warmann chats with Beauty and the Beast stars Emma Watson and Dan Stevens

Disney films don’t get much more iconic than Beauty and the Beast, and so bringing the beloved characters to life in live action – while being an incredible opportunity – is also more than a little bit daunting. Have a read below…
