- Estranged from Sandra, his Caucasian reporter wife, Author Vinay Shankaran returns home to Kerala along with his diabetic son, Samuel. He re-unites with Captain Frederick Brown, the son of John, a former Mayor, who had been allegedly killed, and his position taken over by the husband, Durai, of his wheelchair-bound daughter, Maria. Through oppressive means, Durai continues to assert his control over the region - including the poor construction of a dam. Vinay also reconnects with Meera, a woman he had hoped to marry but who, due to astrological complications ended up agreeing to marry a Caucasian male, Mark.
