Varma adds lots of oomph to this returning series
23 November 2010 | by (New York, New York) – See all my reviews

On the IMDb boards it's debated how tall is Indira Varma REALLY, but there's no debating that this fine actress from England gives HUMAN TARGET a much-needed kick in the pants for its second season on the air.

I enjoyed the team of this show -three solid male performers, and of course like TV shows of yore, dating back to the beautiful guest stars we enjoyed watching weekly on LOVE THAT BOB with Robert Cummings or matched with Gene Barry as BAT MASTERSON, there was no shortage last spring of feminine pulchritude. But Indira adds pizazz and class to the proceedings, not mere eye candy.

I had enjoyed her work on the British cult series TORCHWOOD, and she is outstanding as the mysterious billionaire cast opposite Mark Valley's Christopher Chance.

This setup episode convincingly had her as damsel in distress, but by segment's end we knew she was as competent, steely strong and even macho (in a good way) as any of her three compatriots. Her presence as a deus ex machina ensures the show will be improving, and hopefully gather a devoted following.

The fact that Janet Montgomery has also been imported from England to flesh out the series and its back story is an added plus, and I commend the producers for a wise decision.
