Oscar-winning editor Richard Halsey joins The City of Gardens

Richard Halsey, who won an Academy Award for his editing on Sylvester Stallone's 1976 classic Rocky, has begun work on action-drama The City of Gardens.

Among the film's cast are two werewolves: Alex Meraz from the Twilight films and Grant Bowler from True Blood. Meraz is pictured above (on right) alongside lead actor John Robinson (Lords of Dogtown, Seraphim Falls, Transformers, Elephant).

Produced by Four Fish Films/Dragon Tree Media, the film is now entering into post-production. It tells the story of a free-spirited American surfer who attempts to rid himself of his father's wealth by fleeing to Peru, where he is accused of trafficking cocaine and sent to prison.

Editor Richard Halsey has also worked on such films as Sister Act, Edward Scissorhands, Beaches and American Gigolo.

Twilight and True Blood stars among cast of The City of Gardens

The true story of a young American surfer, wrongfully accused of cocaine trafficking and sent to prison in the 1980s, is the inspiration for new action drama movie The City of Gardens.

Produced by Four Fish Films/DragonTree Media, the project has now wrapped filming in Lima, Peru and is moving to Los Angeles to continue production.

The intense action drama and coming-of-age story stars John Robinson (Lords of Dogtown, Transformers, Elephant), Alex Meraz (who plays one of the native American werewolves in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and New Moon), Johnny Lewis (Sons of Anarchy, The Runaways, Avpr: Aliens vs Predator - Requiem), Michael DeLorenzo (A Few Good Men, Not Forgotten, Resurrection Blvd), Deborah Unger (White Noise, The Hurricane, Angel and the Bad Man, The Game), James Remar (Red, Gun, Pineapple Express, 2 Fast 2 Furious) and Grant Bowler (Killer Elite, True Blood, Ugly Betty).

Camilo Vila's The City of Gardens to Shoot in Los Angeles

Alicia Frankl, Dragon Tree Media, and Monty Fisher Four Fish Films are the production companies and personnel behind The City of Gardens a prison drama that puts "a young American surfer" in a Peruvian jail on bogus drug charges (Studio Matrix). Primary production for this feature has wrapped in Peru with further filming to take place in Los Angeles. Grant Bowler Lands The Killer Elite and The City of Gardens

Grant Bowler joins The Killer Elite and The City of GardensTrue Blood's Grant Bowler has been cast in the action feature The Killer Elite and indie drama The City of Gardens.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Killer Elite centers on the real-life efforts of a private British vigilante group to eliminate a band of contract killers. Bowler will play Capt. James Cregg, an Sas officer and war hero who is one of the targets.

The Killer Elite begins shooting this month in Australia.

Filming this month in Peru, the Camilo Vila-directed The City of Gardens centers on a young California surfer in 1980 who is framed and thrown in a Peruvian jail for political prisoners before escaping.

Bowler will play a schizophrenic named Jesus Christ who is stuck in solitary confinement. John Robinson, James Remar and Deborah Kara Unger also star.
