Stars: Danny Trejo, Charles S. Dutton, Patrick Fabian, Joyful Drake, John Duffy, Harrison Page, Richard Riehle, Winter Ave Zoli, Danny Woodburn, Ron Perlman | Written and Directed by Craig Moss

Decorated Vietnam hero Frank Vega (Trejo) returns home only to get shunned by society, leaving him without a job or his high school sweetheart. It’s not until forty years later when an incident on a commuter bus propels him into the public eye, making him a local hero and he is celebrated once again. The elation is short-lived however when suddenly his best friend Klondike (Page) is murdered and with the police not doing much about it, Frank decides to take matters into his own hands…

Based on the “Epic Beard Man” video that hit YouTube in 2010 and went viral, Bad Ass comes from writer director Craig Moss, whose previous efforts included the hilarious spoof The 41-Year-Old Virgin Who Knocked Up Sarah Marshall and Felt Superbad About It »

DVD Review: Breaking Wind – Part 1

Breaking Wind: Part 1

Stars: Heather Ann Davis, Eric Callero, Frank Pacheco, Michael Adam Hamilton, Alice Rietveld | Written and Directed by Craig Moss

Directed by Craig Moss, the man behind The 41 Year Old Virgin Who Knocked-Up Sarah Marshall and Felt Superbad About It, Breaking Wind: Part 1 is, like Vampires Suck before it, a spoof of the blockbuster Twilight franchise and follows Bella – who finds herself the object of everyone’s affection including Edward Colon, Jacob the overweight but girthy werewolf and Little Edward the three foot six pint sized version of Edward. If that wasn’t enough to worry about, Bella and the gang soon realise that an army of freshly turned vampires (Noobs) are making their way down from Seattle to Forks to kill Bella after tracking her scent from her only copy of ‘Ebony Thunder’ magazine. Both the Colons and the Werewolves must come together to protect Bella, »

On the Scene at the Razzies: Our intrepid reporter tackles Hollywood's smallest night

2 April 2012 7:02 AM, PDT | EW - Inside Movies | See recent EW.com - Inside Movies news »

Even if you only remotely follow Hollywood’s awards season, you know that the Razzies are the anti-Oscars. Now in its 32nd year, the Razzies dis-honor the year’s worst films and performances with a tacky little homemade-seeming trophy topped with a golden raspberry.

But the differences, as I found out last night when I covered movie’s smallest night, do not end there. Oh no, all awards ceremonies are not created equal, I assure you. I’m not sure what should have been my first clue — the new April Fool’s Day observance date, the parking in a public »

Competition: Win ‘Breaking Wind’ on DVD

2 April 2012 4:00 AM, PDT | Blogomatic3000 | See recent Blogomatic3000 news »

From the director who brought you The 41 Year Old Virgin Who Knocked Up Sarah Marshall And Felt Superbad About It, comes a wildly funny spoof of the blockbuster Twilight franchise, Breaking Wind – which is released on DVD today, offers some light relief to all those suffering from Twilight fatigue.

Breaking Wind follows Bella, who finds herself as the object of everyone’s affections: from an eerily Pattinson-esque Edward, Jacob the overweight but girthy werewolf, to Edward’s pint-sized (but oddly sinister) miniature alter ego Little Edward. Raunchy hilarity ensues when Bella’s life is threatened by the vengeful Victoria and her gang of blood sucking Vampire ‘Noobs’, and Edward and Jacob must put aside their differences to save her. Again.

Brought to you by Revolver Entertainment, directed by Craig Moss and starring Heather Ann Davis, Danny Trejo, Eric Callero, Emma Bell and Frank Pacheco, this tongue-in-cheek Twilight parody will appeal to Twi-hards and haters alike. »

Breaking Wind

1 April 2012 10:45 AM, PDT | JustPressPlay.net | See recent JustPressPlay news »

It turns out there is a caliber of filmmaker out there who aren’t merely as bad as Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer (the “creative” minds behind Epic Movie, Meet the Spartans, etc.), but who could take a few lessons from them on how to improve their craft. Friedberg and Seltzer have long taken flack for their horrible films which don’t so much satirize as they do copy and paste pop culture trends into a hodgepodge of characters and events and then call it a comedy. The jokes don’t even need to be relevant to what’s going on. And now, with Twilight on the verge of its climactic finish, it seems everyone’s trying to sink their teeth in the parody craze while it’s still funny. Only, it hasn’t been funny since long before Friedberg and Seltzer made Vampires Suck, and it’s even less »

What to Watch this Week: Cinema releases for March 30th 2012

30 March 2012 6:50 AM, PDT | Blogomatic3000 | See recent Blogomatic3000 news »

It’s Friday, so you know what that means – lots more films released in cinemas across the country! Yes, after last weeks box-office behemoth that was The Hunger Games this week seems positively chock-full of movies to suit every taste – from animation to fantasy, dance flicks to documentaries, there literally is something for everyone in the latest cinema releases. Here’s the highlights:

Nationwide Releases: The Pirates! In an Adventure With Scientists

Hugh Grant, starring in his first animated role, is the luxuriantly bearded Pirate Captain – a boundlessly enthusiastic, if somewhat less-than-successful, terror of the High Seas. With a rag-tag crew at his side (Martin Freeman, Brendan Gleeson, Russell Tovey, and Ashley Jensen), and seemingly blind to the impossible odds stacked against him, the Captain has one dream: to beat his bitter rivals Black Bellamy (Jeremy Piven) and Cutlass Liz (Salma Hayek) to the much coveted Pirate Of The Year Award. »

UK Cinema Release Round-up – 30th March

30 March 2012 4:00 AM, PDT | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

There wasn’t a whole lot on offer last week with Hunger Games unequivocally eclipsing all the other releases. It’s received fairly unanimously positive reviews and looks like being the first box-office smash of the summer. Meanwhile both The Kid With a Bike and Wild Bill have received their own fair share of plaudits and would appear to be well worth seeking out.

This time out though there’s a wide range of releases hitting the screens ranging from big-budget mythological blockbuster and animated piracy adventure to hard-hitting prison documentary and a ghastly looking vampire spoof.

If you want to check to see if any of these films are playing near you, you can visit Find Any Film and they’ll be able to help.

David Lean Directs Noel Coward (Criterion Collection)

In Which We Serve, This Happy Breed, Blithe Spirit, Brief Encounter In this bunch I have only seen Brief Encounter and I loved it. It's a film I would include in a recommended session alongside Before Sunset although Before Sunset is a superior film in my mind. As for the others, I am looking forward to giving them a watch and will be doing so shortly. I tried to find some time yesterday to begin watching This Happy Breed, but the clock was working against me.

Corman's World I wouldn't necessarily say this is a must buy, but it is without a doubt a must rent if only for the Jack Nicholson portion alone. To see cool guy Nicholson break down and start crying while talking about Corman is all I think I really need to say about this film to get you to watch it. »

This week's new films

Michael (18)

(Markus Schleinzer) Michael Fuith, David Rauchenberger, Gisella Salcher. 96 mins

The daily routine of an Austrian paedophile who keeps a young boy locked in his cellar was hardly something anyone was queuing up to see, but this challenges us, and itself, to take a look. At the same time, it thankfully averts its gaze from scenes of actual abuse. There are keen observations on parenting, privacy, power relations and more, but the flat, factual approach verges on dull, and the absence of empathy ultimately just leaves you feeling grubby. So get in line for the grimmest movie of the year!

This Means War (12A)

(McG, 2012, Us) Chris Pine, Tom Hardy, Reese Witherspoon. 98 mins

Two suspiciously close CIA buddies fall out when they discover they're dating the same woman – cue the misuse of government equipment and their own combat skills for one-upmanship. The romcom high concept is novel for a good reason: it's completely ridiculous. »

Toilet Humour Galore In New Trailer For Twilight Spoof Breaking Wind

16 January 2012 | Horror Asylum | See recent Horror Asylum news »

Following on from the reveal of some new artwork for the latest 'Twilight' spoofage 'Breaking Wind' the Craig Moss' ('Bad Ass', 'The 41-Year-Old Virgin Who Knocked Up Sarah Marshall and Felt Superbad About It') project has opened it's humour doors some more by unleashing a new trailer filled with toilet-humour and not overly bad sight gags. It's a shame the spoof genre has effectively lost its footing quite dramatically since the 90's. However, it'll take something far more special than something like 'Breaking Wind' to really get it back on its feet. The spoof stars the likes of Heather Ann Davis ('The Lake'), Eric Callero, Frank Pacheco ('Wizards of Waverly Place') and Danny Trejo ('Machete'). Check out the new trailer below and check it out on DVD when it arrives this March courtesy of Lionsgate »
