Aaron Johnson, Nicholas Hoult & More Testing for ‘Jack the Giant Killer’

1 December 2010 6:59 AM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

The last we reported on Bryan Singer’s next film, Jack the Giant Killer, the studio had given the project the official green light and the search was on for someone to star in the titular role of Jack.

After being rumored for the role of Cyclops in the Singer-produced X-Men: First Class, rising star Aaron Johnson (Kick-Ass) has been mentioned as the frontrunner for the lead role in Giant Killer. But now we’re hearing word that although Johnson might have caught the eye of Singer, the actor isn’t the only one in the running for the part.

Heat Vision is reporting that Johnson will test alongside Nicholas Hoult (Clash of the Titans) and the relatively unknown Aneurin Barnard (Ironclad) for the lead. Jamie Campbell Bower (

‘Guinea Pigs’ Trailer – Drug Trials Gone Horribly Wrong

22 November 2010 11:41 AM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

We will do anything when we are younger to scrape together a few dollars to go see a movie or buy our favorite comic book – paper route, bottle recycling, lawn mowing. As we enter college and beyond, the things we do to earn a little extra cash ramp up, becoming more extreme – selling plasma, donating blood and other fluids, pawning our possessions, and of course, medical drug trials.

British director Ian Clark is using medical drug trials as the basis for his new horror film Guinea Pigs. The movie was shot in “found footage” style similar to Paranormal Activity, Cloverfield and the upcoming Area 51 and Super 8. The one unique difference that sets Guinea Pigs apart from those other films – this is shown to the audience as if they…

Medical Trials Gone Wrong In Ian Clark's Guinea Pigs

18 November 2010 7:54 AM, PST | Screen Anarchy | See recent Screen Anarchy news »

Back in my college days medical trials were a fact of life. Several of my friends financed their higher education by volunteering to be poked, prodded and drugged up in the name of medical science while one spent an entire year in drug trials to finance the creation of a custom built, solid body, Flying V, electric ukulele which he used to perform punk rock songs about the She-Hulk whilst draped with a pink feather boa and sometimes wearing a Mexican wrestler mask. I'm not making that up. This is him being licked by a cat.

But you know why drug trials pay so well? Because the doctors aren't always sure what's going to happen. And that very simple fact provides the basis for Ian Clark's Guinea Pigs, a found-footage style horror picture now in production. They're saying very little about it so far beyond that the story revolves »

Vertigo Films have released the brand new trailer for their new movie, Guinea Pigs. Director Ian Clark is looking to put his own personal stamp on this increasingly popular found footage genre. The micro-budget film is an atmospheric horror about volunteers fighting for their lives after a drug trial goes wrong. Based from what we see in the trailer, It looks like a mix between Paranormal Activity, 28 Days Later and The Grudge. The film stars Alex Reid, Chris Larkin, Steve Evets, Jack Doolan, Amit Shah and Aneurin Barnard and is scheduled for release in the UK next year. Thanks to Dread Central for the find.

Medical Experiments Go Horribly Awry in the Lost Footage Flick Guinea Pigs

15 November 2010 7:35 AM, PST | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

It’s insane how much horrific footage has gone missing in this crazy world as of late. What’s crazier is that people keep finding it, editing said footage into a feature-length film, and releasing them into theaters. Director Ian Clark is looking to put his own personal stamp on this increasingly popular genre with “Guinea Pigs”, a low-budget horror opus that chronicles the mishaps that “rarely” ensue within the wonky world of clinical drug trials. As you may already have guessed, things don’t go according to plan, and it doesn’t take long for events to fold in a very menacing way. The film is scheduled for release in the UK next year, so be sure to check it out before you willingly sell your body to science. Thanks to Dread Central for the scoopage. function getVideo() { var so = new SWFObject("http://cdn.springboard.gorillanation.com/storage/xplayer/yo033.swf", "mplayer", "590", "375", "8", "#000000"); so. »

Vertigo Films have just sent us the brand new trailer for their new movie, Guinea Pigs. Guinea Pigs is directed by Ian Clark and stars Alex Reid, Chris Larkin, Steve Evets, Jack Doolan, Amit Shah and Aneurin Barnard. I love the way this trailer (and possibly the movie) has been shot, mixing it up with CCTV cameras. It looks a little bit like a mix between Paranormal Activity, 28 Days Later and The Grudge.

We don’t have an official release date as yet but we know it’ll be released 2011.

Synopsis: Eight volunteers find themselves fighting for their lives when a drug trial goes horribly wrong.

Guinea Pigs Teaser Trailer Is Here

4 November 2010 2:09 AM, PDT | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

Here's a horror that might be on to something. After all, scary stuff scares people, and doctors scare people, so putting the two together as Guinea Pigs does might just result in something proper unsettling - and certainly this teaser trailer suggests that it's going to walk on the terrifying side. While this all looks a bit Paranormal Activity at the moment, the set-up - volunteers for a medical experiment find things going weird - is sufficiently different that the finished product should be its own beast. The film, written and directed by Ian Clark, is due out in the UK sometime in 2011. It stars Alex Reid, Chris Larkin and Steve Evets. »
