Warning: Spoilers
Case of the week is back at least once this season, but it was actually better than most of those on season 1.

In this episode, we had only a little bit of investment on the Bennett storyline in an increasing relationship between Mags and Loretta, and we finally got to see what Tim Gutterson is capable when given a gun in his hands and some little more screen time.

Nice performance by the beautiful Sarah Jones as the pregnant- convicted-kidnapped Jamie Berglund, back then I really hoped she was brought back to the show, somehow.

MVP: Tim Gutterson (Jacob Witts).

Hard knock life indeed

The Bennetts are largely absent this week, save for a Mags appearance early on (the liking she's taken to Loretta is sick; the boys just finished tossing her father's body down a mine shaft!). Boyd's also little-seen, relegated to a low-level mining job and renting a room in Ava's house.

'The Life Inside' sees Deputy Marshals Gutterson and Givens transporting a pregnant inmate to her doctor appointment - the transfer of which naturally goes south, leaving our lawmen in pursuit. For a crime-of-the-week, it's great for eliciting sympathy for the woman's plight, as well as the rough nature of Raylan's chosen profession. The first season gets a bad rap for having a few by-the-book procedural episodes, and even though this is (mostly) another one, it still maintains the show's newfound swagger and it's still forwarding the major plot threads.

Another fugitive of the week...

Only a bit of our new antagonists, the Bennetts, and a bit more for now working man Boyd Crowder and his new friend...

We do get a pretty good story with the requisite Justified twists and turns (not to mention the expected sharp dialogue) that keep it from feeling stale.

Better than your average procedural if a bit disappointing for Justified, especially with all the new material it has to work with! There are definitely worse ways to spend a short hour...
