Thee were two movie versions of Robert Louis Stevenson's "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" in 1920: one with Sheldon Lewis and the other with John Barrymore, who changed from Jekyll to Hyde with no special effect tricks and in full view of the camera. Jimmy says he served 3 years. The entire US involvement in WWI was 19 months, but it is obvious that the character is speaking of the whole time he was in the Army, not just during the war.
