Nucky travels to Chicago and acts as kingmaker during the Presidential convention when he backs an underdog candidate, Warren G. Harding, a corrupt and not very intelligent U.S. senator with several mistresses. Nucky , in turn, works against Senator Edge when he discovers that he gave Jersey City mayor Frank Hague the highway funding he was counting on to bring more visitors to Atlantic City. In Nucky's absence, rival mobsters sense weakness in his organization and rob his primary casino, severely wounding brother Eli in the process. Eli is now forced to trust Margaret as part of his organization and to recruit back Jimmy Darmody to counter the growing power of Rothstein and Luciano. Written by
