Surprises
12 December 2011 | by (New York) – See all my reviews

The end of the 2011 season of this original series is full of surprises. In fact, many of the issues that were stood between Cam and Ben, whose friendship was challenged by a disagreement is ultimately resolved, as any follower of the program could have expected.

Ben realizes Nancy was playing with him all along. Going to see Yosi proves to be the main reason for Ben to break away from a deal that would have given the dream of Cam and himself to make a name for their fashion line. Ben, having spent quite a long time at the production factory, made good friends with the Italian tailor, the genius in most of the products Yosi has been involved. At the same time, Yosi, showing his disappointment when Ben refuses a check for $200,000, commits the ultimate sin in giving away his relationship with Yosi's wife, Nancy.

Rene and his posse decide to do it the hard way in their confrontation with the head of the Eastern Caribbean League, Everett Thompson. They decide to invade Thompson's apartment, in order to teach him a lesson. They gang surprises him in bed and cover his head with a hood, taking him away. They interrogate the man, only to discover a dark secret: the man they took is not Everett, but his boyfriend! Meeting with Thompson in a secluded section of Brooklyn, Everett surrenders the merchandise his men stole from Cam and Domingo. With the goods in their possession, Cam begs Rene to let him take the stuff to the original destination, thus guaranteeing his cousin and himself a handsome profit.

At Eddie Kaye Kaplan's going away party, Ben arrives with excellent news. Cam sitting with another group is not necessarily impressed seeing Ben, much less talking to him. Cam gives up, leaving the group he was sitting with and has a conversation with his partner, where Ben reveal a secret as how they are to proceed with their dream. Crisp, as a label, is not dead. In fact, it is going to be great for both friends.

The last episode was directed by Simon Cellan Jones who was in charge of three of the chapter of the season. Ian Edelman, the series' creator wrote the final installment, and it shows. It was one of the happiest points in the season where all the conflicts are resolved and no loose ends are unsolved between the two friends with a dream to make them get into a business they love. Bryan Greenberg and Victor Rasuk compliment each other well. The supporting cast is excellent. The only one left hurt at the end is Rene, but Luis Guzman does a marvelous job, as always in the program.
