Crisp by Yosi
6 December 2011 | by (New York) – See all my reviews

Ben and Cam are shown an empty loft space where Yosi is trying to manufacture the guys' merchandise. Yosi has even installed a neon sign reading "Crisp by Yosi", something the guys do not appreciate. After all, it is their own creation, so how dare this man decide to take over their product to make it his own? They walk out sadly disappointed, but unfortunately, having no capital, they cannot do much to deliver the order the St. Louis buyers ordered from them.

Rene is contacted by the man behind the Rasta Monsta drink. He has heard about the liquid marijuana being peddled around town with the label of his drink. Rene has no idea how the thing started. Kappo Kaplan, who was referred by Cam to see Rene about his connections inside the 'joint', comes by to negotiate with Rene and his crew. He gets nervous and pulls a small vial of the drug and sprays it in his mouth. Rene notices as well as his team. Kappo tells him he got it from Domingo, will Cam be on the sale of the illegal drug as well?

Cam figures a way to get money quickly for the manufacturing project. He convinces Domingo to bring the illegal substance to Massachusetts where Cam figures they can turn an easy profit among the colleges in that area. As they prepare to leave, a van bangs into the rear of their vehicle where the merchandise is stashed. The other car is driven by a Jamaican posse that wants their stuff.

Rachel loses her job because she did not follow orders. Her reasoning for not doing what she was told does not make it with her boss. Later, at a Korean grocery, she is trying to get some soup, but has no money to pay for it. On another development, Rene goes to see Debbie, who has just returned from her doctor. She has a big surprise for Rene: she is pregnant! A speechless Rene receives the news, but does not know what to do.

Ben is contacted by Christen and Kirsten as to how their order is doing. When he tells the girls about his unhappiness at how things have turned, the girl remarks it was Nancy's idea to get them involved with Yosi in the first place. The girls could not care less who made the sweat shirts. Ben goes to see Nancy, he confronts her, but she is only interested in sex with Ben.

Danny Leiner directed this episode written by Jill Soloway. The main points are the deceitful Nancy is behind the ruse to bring Yosi into the picture, thus assuring herself a nice deal; after all, she is married to the manufacturer. The other idea is about Rene finding out what Cam has been doing behind his back. Luis Guzman and Gina Gershon shine in this chapter. Things are getting tough for the two would be entrepreneurs and they cannot do anything about it.
