However when Sarah (Roxanne Pallett) in thrown out by her abusive, alcoholic mother (Frances Ruffelle), she has no choice but to move in to the notorious block. Determined to make the best of things Sarah tries to settle in but she is disturbed by bizarre neighbours, strange sounds coming through the paper-thin walls, creepy images on the TV and an overwhelming feeling that she is being watched.

Things get a whole lot worse when a badly mutilated body of one of her neighbours is found hanging in the lift and more and more residents begin to disappear – including squatter-come-burglar »

James Ransone and Shannyn Sossamon to Star in Sinister 2; First Synopsis Released

13 August 2014 4:55 PM, PDT | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Sinister was one of 2012′s best horror movies, and a sequel was given the green light following the first’s success at the box office (it grossed over $87 million worldwide on a budget of only $3 million).

Original director Scott Derickson won’t be back behind the camera – he’s a little too busy developing Doctor Strange for Marvel – but he did find the time to reteam with C. Robert Cargill to pen the sequel. Citadel director Ciaran Foy will helm the sequel, and based on that movie, it’s fair to say the franchise is in good hands.

Sinister 2 starts shooting in Chicago next week, and  Shannyn Sossamon (Mistresses) has been cast as the film’s lead. Joining her in a much larger role this time will be James Ransone. He returns as the unnamed deputy from the first movie who actually played a pretty major role in proceedings last time around. »

After Scott Derrickson’s micro-budget horror film Sinister joined the ranks of Blumhouse Productions’ successful spookfests, it was only a matter of time before a sequel ended up in the works. Sure enough, Sinister 2 was greenlit not long after the release of the first film, with a screenplay penned by Derrickson and his Sinister co-writer C. Robert Cargill, and Ciaran Foy (Citadel) attached to direct.

Sinister starred Ethan Hawke as a crime writer called Ellison Oswalt, who is desperate to relive his past successes and moves his entire family to a house where a brutal slaughter of an entire family took place and a young girl went missing. After a series of bumps in the night and the ...

Sinister 2 is underway and will start filming next week in Chicago with Shannyn Sossamon as the film’s new lead.  Also, in a bit of good news for fans of the original film, James Ransone is returning as “Deputy So and So.”  Maybe we’ll even learn his name this time (or maybe not, I have a theory that they will find a clever way to hold back).  While original director Scott Derrickson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Deliver Us From Evil)  isn’t returning behind the camera, he did team with C. Robert Cargill (who also worked on the original film) to pen the script and will of course produce the movie alongside Jason Blum.  As far as a helmer is concerned, they’re entrusting the reins on this on to Ciaran Foy, who directed the excellent Citadel (definitely check it out if you haven’t seen it »
