Stephen Lang (Avatar) has been tapped for a recurring role on Wgn America‘s drama series Salem. Set in the volatile world of 17th century Massachusetts, it explores what really fueled the town’s infamous witch trials and centers on Mary Sibley (Janet Montgomery), the beautiful, ruthless but vulnerable wife of the ancient, ailing but very wealthy George Sibley (Michael Mulheren), one of Salem’s town Selectmen. Innovative Artists-repped Lang will play Increase Mather, an old-line, hard-core Puritan who led the way across the ocean to the Promised Land in the late 1600s. Intellectually, spiritually and politically, he’s the most influential man in the country — and the most feared. “Stephen Lang is a tremendous actor armed with an almost frightening knowledge of history and psychology — perfect for our twisted Salem, where Increase Mather is a man driven to monstrous deeds by the intensity of his convictions; and a loving »

Peter Pan Cast in Warner Bros' Pan

19 March 2014 7:00 AM, PDT | GeekTyrant | See recent GeekTyrant news »

Warner Bros. and director Joe Wright have cast the young Levi Miller (Terra Nova) to play Peter Pan in their movie Pan. The director spent a long time looking for the right actor to take on the role of Pan, and I guess this is the kid that matches his vision for the film. He will join Hugh Jackman who will play Blackbeard, Garrett Hedlund who will play Hook, and Rooney Mara who is in talks to play Tiger Lily.

I find this following statement really interesting, "Wright is planning to create a world that is very international and multi-racial, effectively challenging audiences’ preconceived notions of Neverland and reimagining the environment." Why do I think that's interesting? Because everyone who's been cast in the movie so far is white. I don't see any multi-racialness going on at all yet.

Joe Wright Finally Finds His Pan

18 March 2014 10:27 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Despite a line-up that boasts of Hugh Jackman, Garrett Hedlund, and Rooney Mara, there has been one conspicuous absence in the cast list for Joe Wright’s Pan: Peter Pan himself. Wright has been searching high and low for a newcomer to play the titular part of the boy who never grew up, and now it appears that he’s found his Peter Pan in the form of Levi Miller.

The young actor will take on the role of a boy swept away from London to Neverland, where he encounters the dangerous pirate Blackbeard (Hugh Jackman) and makes friends (we think) with his eventual nemesis James Hook (Garrett Hedlund). Where the Native American Princess Tiger Lily (played by a decidedly not-Native American Rooney Mara) fits into all this has yet to be seen, but chances are that Peter will have to save the maiden at some point in the proceedings. »

At last, "Pan" has found its Peter.

Variety reports that director Joe Wright's Peter Pan origin story has cast Levi Miller, a young newcomer to film, in the title role.

Miller -- who's only acted in two short films and an episode of TV series "Terra Nova" -- landed the part after an extensive casting search that sought a fresh-faced 10- to 12-year-old boy for the role, which is said to be a complete re-imagining of the iconic character.

"Pan" follows Peter, an orphan during World War II who's kidnapped by pirates and brought to Neverland, where he must fight the pirate Blackbeard to save the land. In addition to Miller, the film stars Garrett Hedlund as a young, pre-villainous Captain Hook who befriends Peter, and Hugh Jackman, who's playing Blackbeard.

Levi Miller Will Be Peter Pan

18 March 2014 9:02 AM, PDT | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

Joe Wright’s most recent piece of potential Pan casting – with Rooney Mara in talks to be Tiger Lily – is already causing some controversy, with critics worried about whitewashing what was a Native American character in this new take on J. M. Barrie’s Neverland adventures. We doubt there will be as much concern about the casting of Peter himself, as Levi Miller has snagged the role.Clearly aiming to find some relatively unknown talent for his central figure, Wright has hired Miller, whose relatively brief CV thus far only includes a couple of shorts and an episode of short-lived sci-fi drama Terra Nova. If it all works out, this could be his big break.Miller will be working alongside Hugh Jackman as the dreaded pirate Blackbeard and Garrett Hedlund, who is playing the more youthful version of Hook, the man who will eventually become Peter’s great nemesis.
