A fantastic episode

I don't want to give too much away but I was so mystified early on in the episode, with its heavy themes and paucity of jokes - it was still captivating and amusing - but then the payoff is so surprising and hilarious. Then, upon rewatching, I saw how smart the writing was and was laughing at new and different things.

Then, after watching the source material that inspired the episode and then watching the show a THIRD time, I saw even more jokes. Clearly, I have way too much time on my hands. But kudos to the network for airing such a ballsy, intelligent, anachronistic shaggy dog joke. And mad props to Danny Pudi for his amazing performance. Watch the episode again to just see him and how he changes throughout the episode. He's the reason for this show's success.

100% the best episode so far

I haven't loved Community, but mainly because I feel that there isn't enough focus on character. This episode changes that. It's well written, intriguing, well performed, and well scored. I really, really liked it.

Warning: Spoilers
My Dinner with Andre and Pulp Fiction are the two movies to be on top of when watching Critical Film Studies, directed by Richard Ayoade. This episode would be peak Community, with Abed and Jeff bonding over a meal a la My Dinner with Andre. The cast dressing up as the various Pulp Fiction characters was hilarious and so real, and pretty much defined the episode. The pop culture references in this episode are incredible without a doubt.

What a major relief that Community is coming back for the movie, but will Chevy Chase return one must wonder. Six seasons and a movie has finally reached its goal.

So sue me for not understanding 90% of this episode. It was good storytelling from Abed's part but he kind of seemed like a jerk the whole way through.
